The Court of Appeal overturned a High Court ruling ordering former KPKT minister Zuraida Kamaruddin and MalaysiaNow to pay RM50,000 to Lim Guan Eng for defamation.

The three-member panel ruled the article was not defamatory and found errors in the High Court’s judgment.

mySalam is the perfect example of why private ITOs can’t underwrite or run social health insurance schemes for the country.

mySalam’s own annual report stated that claim approval rate was only 54%.

As of Dec 2025, mySalam, which is run by Great Eastern Takaful Bhd, only paid out RM1.4 billion.

mySalam was meant to pay out RM2 billion in 5 years from 2019 to 2023, in exchange for Singapore-based GE not divesting 30% of its shares to local investors when the program was launched by PH1.0 govt.

Malaysia would have been better off just getting RM2 billion cash from GE over 5 years, instead of wrapping it up in an insurance scheme.

In fact, the company should pay the Malaysian govt interest for not completing RM2 billion payouts by 2023.

I don’t blame GE; they’re just acting like a typical ITO. But the mySalam case already gave me early warning signals.

Yet Madani govt still proceeded with MediAsas underwritten by ITOs.

Ever since GE-15 in 2022, I've updated hourly voter turnout forecasts by posting charts on Twitter.

I probably still will, but this time around, we are levelling up!

I've updated the Johor SE-16 page on ElectionDataMY with this chart - my forecast of voter turnout will be updated every hour as @sprgovmy (hopefully) tweets the hourly turnout figures.

I've also got one more 'live update' thingy planned, but more on that tomorrow.

If you're wondering how I arrived at my current baseline forecast of 68%, don't worry - it's not pakai hantam je. Although slightly janky, I arrived at this figure by analysing traffic and travel data I've been using as benchmarks over the years:
• KTM ETS / Intercity / Shuttle Tebrau (via https://t.co/lUoJYHVaR8)
• Google Maps
• Air travel (manually going booking sites and checking the % of empty seats on flights to Johor)

However, that's only to get a pre-election forecast. The moment we get the first number tomorrow (usually the turnout as of 9am), my model will immediately update the page to forecast solely based on actual on-the-day data.

And there's something in common for almost all of them: The blocker before was the lack of a clean data source.

Even though it is 'simple', data cleaning is 90% of the effort. No clean data = not worth the time required for most people.

It took me 4 years to clean up and publish. But now, no one will ever have to do it again. They can instantly innovate and test out all their ideas.
