@martindelp Luna is great and should have been on. That said, your rant is not based on facts. Two Mexican Americans on the roster. Point your cannon somewhere else.
@davidsirota The height of NIMBYism. We want all the benefits but don't put it near us. It's like cattle. We'll eat the steak, but don't want to smell the poop. If you don't like DCs, get rid of your phone and computers.
@Lskywalker45221 She's not wrong though. It is however a vast oversimplification of the conference's demise. Part of it was it's mismanagement of it's brands in the second largest media market in the country. Forget sports for a second, they had exclusive access to SoCal and botched it.
@GebbiaBrian@geoffschwartz All colleges are about to have serious money issues due to AI. College athletics is ALL about money. It's why SC and the others left for the BIG. Duke signed with Amazon. OU and Texas are in the SEC. Why FSU sued it's own conference. MONEY.
@PenguinOfTroy Oddly enough, out of SC and oregon, only one of them has had their head coach banned from coaching football at the college level and it's not SC.
@lastnameNash@VicLombardi The NCAA has zero to do with the CFP. Get your info straight. The conferences run it. ND is not guaranteed anything. The conferences are. It’s right there in writing. ND’s inclusion is entirely up to the conferences just like last year. They choose to include ND or not.
@patrick_pnash@drive1n_manager@PeteSampson_ ND does NOT have their own network. They license their games to NBCU. It’s a nice package but if their margins slip, so does the value of the deal. There are about 100 Million households in the west. A team with an independent TV deal can’t afford to ignore that.
@lastnameNash@VicLombardi Yes IF the committee ranks them in the top 12. IF. There is no “guarantee” the other conferences want them in and it’s entirely subjective. The ACC doesn’t benefit, nor does anyone else. Ratings went up last year without ND.
@drive1n_manager@patrick_pnash@PeteSampson_ I disagree but that has zero to do with it. LA and NY are the two largest media markets in the country. Rutgers isn’t in the BIG because of their robust and loyal fan base- it’s because you can sell ads in NYC at higher prices. No LA game, less $$ for the Irish from NBC
@patrick_pnash@PeteSampson_ The execs at NBCU would beg to differ. The tv deal is worth much less without an annual match to market in LA. Maybe try UCLA?
@StephJoyceDC@TrojanFBx@latimes Impossible how? Jax State and North Dakota State can get a waiver but you think the NCAA wouldn’t grant one to SC-nd? The offer was week 0 in ‘26 (that’s true) and then arrange for an early September date moving forward.
