Over the summer, Henry Nowak's final moments were broadcast around the world. He was just eighteen, and when the police reached him on a street in Southampton he would have believed that help had come. He told them he had been stabbed and could not breathe, and they handcuffed and arrested him.
I met Henry's family in June, and that meeting has stayed with me ever since. There is still much more to be said about how the police failed Henry, and about how they went on failing his family and loved ones right up until the conviction.
The day after we met, I wrote to the then Prime Minister, Keir Starmer asking for an independent, rapid review of the police response, the decisions that followed, and the role of the police watchdog. I didn't publish that letter at the time, because I hoped the Government would do the right thing and I wanted to work with them quietly to make that happen. Downing Street's answer was to wait for the existing processes to run their course.
Since then, Keir Starmer has gone and Andy Burnham has taken his place, yet still there is no review. There was little mention of victims in the PM’s speech earlier this week. Henry's family have waited long enough, so today I'm publishing my letter. Andy Burnham should order the review now, and I stand ready to work with him to set it up, as I offered in June.
I haven't forgotten Henry, and I won't let this Government forget him either.
Burnham is taking money from British pensioners who worked hard and did the right thing their whole lives…
…so he can keep paying for condoms in Pakistan, keep paying welfare to foreign nationals who don’t work.
It’s the British people who should be crying, not Burnham.
🚨NEWS: Elon Musk has called on the British Government to release everyone in prison for social media posts to ease the overcrowding
"They're not a danger to society" - Elon Musk
Question: If men stayed out of womens changing rooms & bathrooms in years gone by because they knew they were not supposed to be in there, and it was law, why can’t they do that now?
Remember all the triple lock really does is keep an old age pension (which many have spent between 40-50 years paying into in with NI contributions) up with inflation so pensioners can afford to pay their heating & food bills. We also have one of the poorest pensions in Europe.
I’ve had a think about the word British. It’s become completely meaningless. Every Pakistani, Somali and Afghan is now described as British. They can’t even speak English. So we shall now use a different word to describe the beautiful people of this country. That word is WISE. It stands for Welsh, Irish, Scottish and English. So welcome you wise people and here’s to us. Cheers 🍻
1,000+ military-age men broke into Britain last week…
Only one person got arrested…the man who tried to stop it…
Today, the Prime Minister went on TV and called him a racist…
Ask yourself honestly & logically.. if 98% of sexual assault is male, almost exclusively onto female, if you allow men to self ID into women’s intimate spaces who will be at an increased risk?
I’m negative about the bbc..because I know from personal experience how they treated the subject of men in womens sport, & the abysmal reporting of the actual facts, the science, the female voice & the lack of support for female athletes. They went out of their way to ignore the science.
A British father of two got two years this week for a plastic bottle and a mouthful of swearing at police in Portsmouth.
The judge called him a thug. Said the sentence was to put other people off turning up.
I am a father. I know what two years looks like to children. School runs. Birthdays. Being in the house.
The court accepted he was not a dangerous offender. An empty bottle. That is what two years bought.
If the state wants deterrence, it has found the easy target. Men like him are easy to jail. The boats are not. The hotels are not. The people who keep sending the same press lines are not.
Wrong to throw things at police. Also wrong to pretend this sentence is about public safety.
It is about who they are allowed to make an example of.
So we are being told that r*pists & paedophiles are being released early starting in October because of supposed prison overcrowding.
Why then in the last couple of days have 2 people been taken to prison for throwing a plastic bottle & for puncturing a dinghy?
Somewhere along the line we are being lied to as this government are releasing dangerous people early into our society & replacing them with political prisoners.
The two-year prison sentence for Del Somerville, for the crime of throwing a plastic bottle and swearing at police during a protest against the small boats, is genuinely staggering. A blatant example of two-tier justice. It’s almost as if the authorities are deliberately attempting to provoke some sort of civil uprising.
Weapons thrown. Bottles. Hitting police with sticks. NOT ONE of these left wing pro Palestine protestors were charged or imprisoned for ANYTHING you see in this video.
Yet a local resident in the ward I represent in Portsmouth, Del Somerville, is now serving 2 years behind bars for swearing and throwing a plastic bottle in the direction of police.
This is what injustice looks like.
