The Catholic Hymns in the Hymn Book are lyrically sooo deep.
That’s why St Augustine said ‘He who sings well, prays twice’
Sing and meditate on the words.
When they say “stop raping women”, olori-ebis will rear their heads to start asking “what of false accusers?”. Now there’s a whole ass festival dedicated to raping women, with videos circulating, you’re quiet because you’re still investigating the videos with forensics abi?
My parents did a great job raising me in the Catholic way. I grew up in the faith, asked questions and I fell in love with it even more. It is my duty to pass it down.
Personally, I feel the Church should hold mandatory catechism classes from time to time for the entire laity. It can be done during homily. You will see someone come to Mass after the readings or homily and they proceed to receive the Eucharist. There is a huge knowledge gap.
WHY DO CATHOLICS NOT SING ALLELUIA DURING LENT?
One of the practices or observances in the Catholic Church is the omission of Alleluia during Lent.
There are reasons behind this omission.
First, Catholics do not sing or say Alleluia during Lent because Lent is a penitential season, not yet a season of full celebration. Alleluia means “Praise the Lord,”. It is the song of victory, the cry of those who stand in the joy of God’s triumph (cf. Revelation 19:1–6). During Lent, the Church deliberately sets aside this joyful acclamation to enter spiritually into the desert with Christ (cf. Matthew 4:1-11).
Second, Lent is a time of repentance and mourning for sin. Scripture teaches that there is “a time to weep… and a time to dance” (Ecclesiastes 3:4). Lent is the Church’s time to weep over sin, prepare the heart, and return to God (Joel 2:12-13).
Even the Psalms show us that repentance precedes praise: “A broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise” (Psalm 51:17). By setting aside the Alleluia, the Church allows us to enter this spirit of humility, conversion, and interior renewal.
Third, the silence of the Alleluia creates longing. By fasting even from joyful words like Alleluia, the Church deepens her hunger for redemption. When the Alleluia returns at the Easter Vigil, it expresses the fullness of Resurrection joy, echoing the heavenly praise: “Alleluia! Salvation and glory belong to our God” (Revelation 19:1). In this way, the Church teaches us that true praise is born from conversion, and authentic joy is born from the Cross.
In all: we silence the Alleluia during Lent so that our repentance may be sincere, and so that our Easter joy may be complete.
If you are still thinking of coming to Canada via PR - my only advice will be to de-prioritise IELTS as much as possible and focus on getting a CLB 7 in TEF/TCF. Thank me later.
I beg you all in the Name of God, let’s not forget the 165 Children of St MARY Catholic School still in Captivity by Fulani Kidnappers

The Catholic Nuptial Blessing is such a beautiful thing that emphasises the equality of man and woman. It goes thus:
“Dear brothers and sisters, let us humbly pray to the Lord that on these his servants, now married in Christ, He may mercifully pour out the blessing of His grace and make of one heart in love (by the
Sacrament of Christ’s Body and Blood) those he has joined by a holy covenant.
O God, who by your mighty power created all things out of nothing, and, when you had set in place the beginnings of the universe, formed man and woman in your own image, making the woman an
inseparable helpmate to the man, that they might no longer be two, but one flesh, and taught that what you were pleased to make one must never be divided.
O God, who consecrated the bond of Marriage by so great a mystery that in the wedding covenant you foreshadowed the Sacrament of Christ and his Church:
O God, by whom woman is joined to man and the companionship they had in the beginning is endowed with the one blessing not forfeited by original sin nor washed away by the flood.
Look now with favour on these your servants, joined together in marriage who ask to be strengthened by your blessing.
Send down on them the grace of the Holy Spirit and pour your love into your hearts, that they may remain faithful in the Marriage covenant.
May the grace of love and peace abide in your daughter N. and let he always follow the example of those holy women whose praises are sung in the Scriptures.
May her husband entrust his heart to her, so that, acknowledging her as his equal and his joint heir to
the life of grace, he may show her due honour and cherish her always with the love that Christ has for his Church.
And now, Lord, we implore you: may these your servants hold fast to the faith and keep your
commandments: made one in the flesh, may they be blameless in all they do: and with the strength that comes from the Gospel, may they bear true witness to Christ before all; (may they be blessed with children, and prove themselves virtuous parents, who live to see their children’s children.)
And grant that reaching at last together the fullness of years for which they hope, they may come to the life of the blessed in the Kingdom of Heaven.
Through Christ our Lord.”
And the Church says: “Amen!”
