We, at Practitioners of Contemporary Philosophy Ltd, an Impact investment consulting firm based in Uganda but operating in the wider Sub Saharan Region recently developed a model that provides a diagnosis and prognosis of the Agribusiness sector on the African Continent.
Our model uses an analogy of the football sport considering how widely known and loved the sport is, and the fact that its appeal cuts across religious, political, economic and social class affiliation, as well as across gender, race and age.
As illustrated in the related video and the drawing on paper, entrepreneurs are represented by the strikers, because like strikers in football, they are the finishers, faces of the sector's most known and prestigious entities and are the highest paid.
The Employees are represented by the midfielders, because like midfielders in football who are the link between defence and attack, the employees are the link between the small holder farmers and the entrepreneurs.
The small holder farmers are represented by the defenders, and are the most important category of all 4, because when they do well and let in no goal, the worst result the team can get is a draw, even even all other categories fail. Just like defenders therefore, the small holder farmers are the most important category of the 4 because they form the foundation upon which all the other 3 categories depend. Without agricultural production none of the other 3 categories would be in business, and infact of all 4 categories, small holder farmers are the ones most self reliant, able to survive without the need of the other 3, in strict regard to what they do in the chain and their ability to live simple lives under a subsistence model if all hell broke loose. They also have an unfortunate similarity with defenders in that, despite being the most important, they are the least recognised and least paid.
The funders/financiers in the sector are represented by the Coaches/Managers, who through their funding, influence/enhance strategy, tactics, product and market selection.
In our diagnosis, our strikers suffer from unlendability symptomised by deficiency in soft skills, values, and unmitigated Key man risk, employees suffer from unemployability symptomised by a poor work ethic, and limited innovation and taking of initiative, small holder farmers suffer from a deficiency of last mile impact that hinders them from translating increased incomes to improved livelihoods, and the increasing threat of business succession failure where the children of farmers who are passing on are not taking up small holder farming because they have much less land to do it on, it pays poorly, and they have better options of earning an income.
The funders/financiers suffer from a limited understanding of the basic technical agronomy aspect of the businesses they finance and the foreign based ones also have an additional challenge of a limited understanding of local socio-economic dynamics on the African continent that are important in performing due diligences and dealing with defaults when they occur.
This diagnosis was developed after performing a detailed analysis that showed that despite the provision of adequate, affordable and appropriately structured financing, supported by traditional technical assistance, Agribusiness loans were still failing. Our diagnosis explains these failures.
We have developed the prognosis for all 4 categories based on our diagnosis, and have already had some completed and successful executions at various depth and breadth, with some funders.
If you are an Agribusiness sector stakeholder in government, development agency, international NGO, Impact fund, etc, and are interested in furthering this discussion or collaborating on it, please feel free to reach out on [email protected] or directly through X.
Kanaba Estates and Agencies Ltd, that owns a commercial farm situated at Akabaale village (near the Kyankwanzi-Nakaseke bridge on river Mayanja), Bwaba Parish, Banda Sub County, Butemba County, Kyankwanzi district, would like to officially thank the President of Uganda, HE Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for giving fair, balanced and true guidance to the local leaders of Kyankwanzi, during his meeting with them at NALI Kyankwanzi on Wednesday 15th April 2026, about the unfortunate land grabbing attempts by several land grabbers aided and supported by some of the local leaders who attempted to seek political sympathy from the President, based on falsehoods, despite overwhelming evidence that culminated in a High Court judgement on 24th Sept 2024, in favour of Kanaba Estates and Agencies Ltd.
The President specifically informed the Kyankwanzi district leaders that he knew the land very well from his bush war days when he used to walk through it to cross River Mayanja by boat, and that there were no people inhabiting the area as falsely claimed by land grabbers who say they had been living there since the 1950s. The President went further to advise the Kyankwanzi leaders to avoid playing cheap populist politics and instead focus on educating their people about the land laws and avoid supporting land grabbing.
Kanaba Estates and Agencies Ltd informs all and sundry that their land ownership has been investigated over a period of 7 years, by several government Agencies, that include the State House Legal department, Ministry of Lands that did the opening of boundaries, Uganda Police Land Protection Unit, State House Anti-Corruption Unit, ISO, OWC, the Kyankwanzi district security Committee, and the Kiboga High Court, all of which came to the same conclusion- that Kanaba Estates and Agencies Ltd is the rightful owner, and that the other claimants are fraudsters peddling false claims of ownership.
Kanaba Estates and Agencies informs all the land grabbers and their supporters, leaders and funders to wisen up and adhere to the High Court judgement and the President's wise counsel on this matter, because it had always been their last card to try to seek and win political sympathy from the President by lying to him that they are genuine bibanja holders who were born on the land and have nowhere to go, which is totally false! These are fraudsters from various corners of the country, and others are foreigners gotten from refugee camps across the country, and these 2 groups of people have even gotten involved in committing heinous crimes of assault, murder and attempted murder against the farm workers of Kanaba Estates and Agencies, and some of these cases are ongoing in the Kiboga Chief Magistrates and High Court.
Kanaba Estates and Agencies Ltd, would also like to thank the Kyankwanzi district leaders who not only disagreed with their counterparts who tried to sell falsehoods to the President about this matter, in a forum where the company was unable to defend itself against these false allegations, but also provided the President with the correct information about the land matter based on the High Court ruling and other related developments that confirmed Kanaba Estates and Agencies as the rightful owner.
SIGNED- MANAGEMENT OF KANABA ESTATES AND AGENCIES LTD....

The ONLY and BEST thing that could and will come out of this painful and shocking loss to Bournemouth is for Arsenal to know they have no choice now but to go to the Etihad next weekend and beat City decisively because its within their means and they should have the confidence, belief and incentive to do it, guarantee the title, and strike a death blow to City not just for this season but to force the end of their era and the official start of the Gunners'.
They need to symbolically win this title by beating City at their home at a time when everyone doubts them, but know that it would not just b a win of 3 points but a win of this and many many titles to come!
Every dark cloud has a silver lining. I c City beating Chelsea tomorrow, feeling bullish about an easy match against us next weekend and us shocking them and everyone else by beating them convincingly then.
The title charge is still on....
For all the noise that rival fans are making against Arsenal, in the aftermath of our unfortunate loss to Villa, as well the meltdown of some Arsenal fans losing hope in our title charge, I would like to put the situation in context based on fact.
Firstly, it baffles me that for over a century that league football has existed, pundits and fans have never understood that despite the fact that wins and draws are rewarded with the same points, matches against different teams are of different levels of difficulty. For example winning against teams in the top 7 (and traditional power houses, derby teams and bogey teams) is much more difficult than teams in the bottom 7, which is why each match has a win probability.
Based on this basic fact, its illogical and incorrect to simply compare league points of any 2 teams after as few as 15 of 38 matches, without considering who and where (home or away) they have accumulated them.
In the case of comparing Arsenal with Man City for example, Arsenal, on the face of it is only 2 points ahead of City, but they r points that include results from matches they have played away to Man United, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Sunderland where City hasn't gone yet.
To prove the authenticity of this point, for example both Arsenal and City have had matches away to Newcastle and Aston Villa which fall in the bracket of the obviously difficult matches for any title contender, and in these particular matches, both Arsenal and City lost at Villa, and City lost at Newcastle and Arsenal narrowly won at Newcastle.
For this reason, given than Arsenal are ahead of City by 2 points despite having already played 4 difficult away games that City still has to play, Arsenal fans shd not worry abt the seemingly small gap bse its not as small as it appears quantitative, bse the substance is in the qualitative value of it (team played and whether home or away) and that this gap is more likely to increase in Arsenal's favour than to further reduce in City's favour.
@Blue_Footy But u Chelsea guys hv Cucu and Fofana out of yr first choice back 4 away from home.... that alone will lead to yr being over powered by Arsenal.... .who r already on an emotional high after their Spurs away win!!
Rodri is the reason City is a shambles currently. He is nolonger wat he used to be b4 hos ACL and he is only in the team bse of his past achievements not current form. He is now a passenger in the team, unable to press, tackle and win duels and the worst part, unable to run and last 90 minutes!!!
He shd hv been let go as soon as he fully recovered bse games r won on current form, physical and mental state and NOT on historical achievements!!!
@TouchlineX Scholesy is just a foolish, overrated hater..... AFC is the most complete team dominating not just the EPL but the Champions league by a country mile! The evidence is CLEAR and so is his nonsense!!!
@UnbiasedWord@MC_frnk NOP. THAT LAST EPL WAS BSE HEUNG MIN SON, THAT SPURS SON PF A BITCH DELIBERATELY REFUSED TO SCORE AGAINST U AT WHITE HART LANE WHEN THRU 1V1 WITH EDERSON BSE HE DIDN'T WANT ARSENAL TO WIN THE LEAGUE....
@Astro_Nuel@FabrizioRomano Shows how weak City has become!! Doku with useless dribbles amd poor end product, Foden running dry, Haaland blanking in 4 straight games from open play... etc etc...
@_yeminiz@FabrizioRomano U r on the money, bse a United with Mbeumo, Amad and Cunha upfront against a make shift CB pairing of Khusanov and Alleyne, with Mazroui boosting the back, playing at OT in the Manchester derby!!! It will b fwaya!!!
@DxBruyneSZN Very few managers hv the intellect and the balls to know, accept and let go of an aged ravaged star!!!
U cd argue that KDB and Kyle Walker shd hv left a season b4 they did, for example and were big reasons for the club's failures in their last season of presence!
