There is a higher chance of trailers being rear ended than hit from the sides and having side impact barriers would make any kind of incline impossible to traverse.

Tractor trailers need to have underrun safety crash bars.
@VW_ID_Club Battery preconditioning was REMOVED from launch Model thru MY23 iD4 from iD.SW 3.X.
Only vehicle out of the factory on Model Year 24 had Battery conditioning feature. Saying it was added as software update is misleading.
Self parking was included when side sensors were added
