करीब साढ़े पाँच वर्षों तक असम कांग्रेस परिवार के साथ AICC Incharge के रूप में काम करना मेरे सार्वजनिक जीवन के सबसे भावनात्मक और यादगार अध्यायों में से एक रहेगा। इस दौरान असम की जनता, वहाँ की माता-बहनों, ऊर्जावान युवाओं, कांग्रेस कार्यकर्ताओं और नेताओं ने जो प्रेम, सम्मान और अपनापन दिया, उसने मुझे हमेशा परिवार जैसा एहसास कराया।

आज दिसपुर में असम कांग्रेस के सभी पदाधिकारियों, असेंबली चुनाव में हमारे candidates के साथ मीटिंग कर election results का विश्लेषण किया।
इस चुनाव में परिणाम हमारे अनुकूल नहीं आए। BJP ने विभाजन और ध्रुवीकरण की राजनीति पर चुनाव लड़ा। मनमाना परिसीमन, सरकारी मशीनरी के misuse जैसे कई मुद्दे रहे।
लेकिन लोकतंत्र में जनता का जनादेश सर्वोपरि होता है और हम उसे पूरी विनम्रता से स्वीकार करते हैं।

मेरी कामना है कि असम की जनता को एक स्वच्छ, पारदर्शी और गैर-भ्रष्ट सरकार मिले, जो हर जाति, समुदाय और वर्ग को साथ लेकर राज्य के विकास के लिए काम करे।

मैं कांग्रेस के सभी उम्मीदवारों, वरिष्ठ नेताओं और कार्यकर्ताओं से कहना चाहता हूँ कि हमें निराश नहीं होना है। जिन लाखों लोगों ने Congress पर विश्वास जताया है, उनके प्रति हमारी जवाबदेही अब और भी बढ़ जाती है। यही समय है कि हम फिर से बूथ स्तर तक जाएँ, जनता के बीच जाएँ, अपने संगठन को और मजबूत करें और अगले चुनाव की तैयारी आज से ही शुरू करें।
आज़ादी के आंदोलन से लेकर हर दौर में, संघर्ष और निरंतर मेहनत ही कांग्रेस की सबसे बड़ी ताकत रही है।

मैंने प्रदेश कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष श्री गौरव गोगोई से भी आग्रह किया है कि कांग्रेस के सभी उम्मीदवार और वरिष्ठ नेता संपूर्ण असम के मंडलों और बूथों तक जाकर जमीनी कार्यकर्ताओं का आभार व्यक्त करें।
चुनाव सिर्फ परिणाम का नाम नहीं होता, बल्कि उन हजारों कार्यकर्ताओं के समर्पण और मेहनत का सम्मान भी होता है, जिन्होंने दिन-रात पार्टी के लिए काम किया।

आज इस विदाई के क्षण में, मैं APCC अध्यक्ष @GauravGogoiAsm जी, सांसद श्री @rakibul_inc जी, @DsaikiaOfficial जी, @ripunbora जी, सभी कार्यकारी अध्यक्षों, PAC सदस्यों, DCC अध्यक्षों, APCC पदाधिकारियों और कांग्रेस के सभी प्रत्याशियों एवं कार्यकर्ताओं का हृदय से धन्यवाद करता हूँ। मैं असम की सम्मानित जनता को धन्यवाद देता हूँ।

Assam और असम कांग्रेस हमेशा मेरे दिल में एक विशेष स्थान रखेंगे। यहाँ से मैं सिर्फ यादें नहीं, बल्कि रिश्ते और अपनापन लेकर जा रहा हूँ। कांग्रेस के लिए मेरा समर्पण और संकल्प सदैव मजबूत रहेगा, क्योंकि कांग्रेस सिर्फ एक राजनीतिक दल नहीं, बल्कि विचार और लोगों को जोड़ने की ताकत है।

Two lists of Indian National Congress candidates in Assam are already out and the candidate he had objections was not in either.
This means we were considering Pradyut Bordoloi ji’s recommendations. I've spoken to him on this couple of times and he knew, my stand.

One thing is clear : As politicians, we should realise that we are elected by our voter to represent them with dignity and sincerity and not sell their vote as a negotiator waiting for the highest leverage point.
