It's intriguing how certain ways of inflicting violence are associated with certain settings. Burning has had a historical association with DV & dowry violence, which take place in private spaces, while the context of acid attacks is usually sexual harassment, in public spaces.

#Burning has long been used as a weapon of #violenceagainstwomen, which strips away at not just the flesh but the dignity & autonomy of the victims. #Women, too, turn to self-immolation to escape #domesticviolence & #dowryharassment.
