@deandad Have your aspiring physician talk w/ his prehealth advisor. If his institution doesn't have one, the @NAAHPInc "Find an Advisor" service can connect him. Gap years are highly valued but an MPH may not make the most sense for his personal situation, MCAT, GPA, experiences, etc.

@lhkuroda Compensation is based on education, experience, duties. LAs do no advising, committee work, or scholarship. We can argue the wage (which should include cost of R&B) but shouldn't tenured faculty be compensated for their additional work?

@Jin_tries_a_phd But LAs don't teach courses. They facilitate conversation sessions & I believe they get room and board in the language houses. It's more of a post-bac position than an adjunct or GTA. NIH pays PBs about $15/hr to live in Bethesda MD.

They say we should arm all teachers w/guns & bullets but some years my district doesn't even get enough state funding to arm them w/paper & pencils...
