President Trump is right. The Senate needs to keep working until we get the SAVE America Act done.

Just a few moments ago, I opposed the Senate leaving town for a month. While those in favor of leaving won the vote, I won’t stop fighting until we get this important bill signed into law.

There is simply too much at stake.

Earlier today, my colleagues and I were asked to grant unanimous consent to adjourn for the August State Work Period. I objected because I believe we need to stay and keep working.

In response to my objection, I secured an agreement to vote on adjournment, and I’m working with my colleagues to tee up votes on a number of matters prior to any recess, including the voter ID portion of the SAVE America Act, a continuing resolution to fund the government through December 11th, and confirmation of Todd Blanche as Attorney General. Those votes will likely start happening soon—in the next few hours.

Efforts to pass a budget resolution efforts will continue, and I will not stop pushing for election integrity measures to be included in them.

A few of my colleagues and I just finished a good conversation with President Trump, who agrees with and supports this approach.
