The carefully constructed narratives perpetuated by Hollywood and mainstream media (MSM)—which often reduce complex geopolitical conflicts to simplistic binaries of "heroes" and "villains"—were abruptly destabilized by a single, visceral moment in Gaza’s Nuseirat camp. During a prisoner exchange between Hamas’ Qassam Brigades and Israeli forces, a captured Israeli soldier, moments after being released, leaned forward and gently kissed the head of the Palestinian fighter overseeing the handover.

This fleeting act of unexpected humanity, captured on camera, shattered the dehumanizing tropes that dominate Western portrayals of the Palestine 🇵🇸 genocide.

For decades, Western media and entertainment industries have framed Palestinian resistance factions as faceless "terrorists" and Israeli soldiers as infallible defenders, erasing the lived trauma and moral ambiguities on both sides.

Yet here, in the dust and tension of Nuseirat, the roles blurred: the captive, embodying vulnerability, expressed gratitude to his captor, while the Qassam member, often depicted as a ruthless militant, stood motionless, his expression unreadable but undeniably human. This moment laid bare the absurdity of reducing a 75-year occupation, with its cycles of violence and survival, to a one-dimensional script.

The image reverberated globally, sparking polarizing reactions. For some, it symbolized a shared longing for peace amid relentless bloodshed; for others, it was a discomforting rupture in the propaganda that justifies perpetual war.

Critics of Israel’s occupation highlighted it as evidence of Palestinian dignity and restraint, while pro-Israel voices scrambled to frame the soldier’s gesture as coerced or aberrant. Meanwhile, Hollywood’s action-movie logic—where good and evil are color-coded, and resolution comes via drone strikes or superhero interventions—collapsed under the weight of this nuanced, real-world scene.

In that split second, the world witnessed what corporate media rarely acknowledges: the irreducible humanity of both occupier and occupied, and the futility of narratives that deny their intertwined fates.

The kiss, neither redemptive nor absolving, became a Rorschach test for observers—a reminder that behind every headline are individuals capable of acts that defy political binaries. It is in these unscripted moments that the true cost of war, and the possibility of its end, flicker faintly into view.

This is one story among thousands that have unfolded during the ongoing genocide being perpetrated by the illegal State of Israel in Gaza. This morning, I visited an old family friend from Gaza forcibly displaced here to Cairo. He shared with me the harrowing account of how his three sisters were executed last July 2024 in Gaza City.

His sisters, aged in their late seventies and eighties, lived alone in their home just off Thalathiny Street in the city center. At dawn on July 10th, Israeli soldiers arrived and began pounding on their door.

The youngest sister got up to open it, knowing that if she didn’t, they would likely blow it up and force their way in. As soon as she opened the door, the soldiers shot her in the head without hesitation.

Hearing the gunshot, the second sister rushed to the door, only to be met with the same fate—she was shot in the head instantly and without warning.

The soldiers then stormed the house, ransacking it as they moved from room to room. When they reached the living room, they found the third and eldest sister seated. Health issues had rendered her immobile.

The soldiers shot her in the shoulder, leaving her bleeding. After tearing the house apart and completing their search, the soldiers prepared to leave.

The eldest sister, realizing she could not escape and was likely to die from her injuries, pleaded with them to end her suffering. The soldiers refused. Instead, they threw an incendiary grenade into the house, which quickly caught fire.
Then they left, slamming the door shut behind them.

We know these details because the surviving sister, in a desperate attempt to save herself, managed to call a few neighbors, recounting everything that had transpired. She begged for help to escape the burning house, but none of her neighbors could come to her aid. The entire neighborhood was under siege, with Israeli soldiers and drones shooting anything that moved.

Hours later, when the soldiers finally withdrew, the neighbors entered the house. Inside, they found the bodies of Arwa and Maysoon lying dead in a pool of blood. Their eldest sister, Rufaida, was still in her chair, dead, having succumbed to asphyxiation from the smoke.

May the souls Rufaida, Arwa and Maysoon, and the tens of thousands of our martyrs in Gaza killed by Israel rest in peace. Israeli officials and their U.S. partners must be held accountable. Such crimes cannot go unanswered or unpunished.

- All such cases and allegations are absolutely false.

Q: You use the surname Nithyananda, are you related to Swami Nithyananda? How and when did you meet him? Why do you have a tattoo of Nithyananda on your arm?
A: The SPH Nithyananda Paramashivam is my Guru. I was initiated into sannyas (monkhood) as per Hindu tradition, and it is my spiritual name.
In 2013, I came across the Youtube channel (https://t.co/uifYbRr2Q5) of Jagatguru Mahasannidhanam (SPH) Bhagavan Nithyananda Paramashivam, and was immediately struck by His inspiring videos. His deep knowledge of the ancient sciences and philosophies of Hinduism, as described in the scriptures of Hinduism, felt like a breath of fresh air. The SPH has decoded and demsytified the most complex theology of science of living enlightenment and made it easily applicable for each of us in everyday life.
Most importantly, SPH stands for gender equality in religion and society from the depths of the Hindu tradition and women’s empowerment, which was very important to me as a woman.
In May 2014, I had the opportunity to meet SPH in Varanasi, India as a participant in a program along with thousands of devotees from more than 50 countries. It was an incredible honor and a life-changing experience for me.
I had this tattoo done back in 2016, shortly after my experience with the SPH in a program with thousands of attendees. It was a powerful moment that brought me back to my roots and made me feel truly confident about my Hindu identity. The SPH has had a profoundly positive impact on my life, and this tattoo serves as a daily reminder of that. It's a symbol of gratitude to Him, and a tribute to the transformative power of enlightening spiritual experiences.
Q: Swami Nithyananda is known to be a self-styled godman with several cases against him in India, including rape and sexual assault. Why are you supporting the initiatives of a fugitive? Don’t you fear getting on the wrong side of law?
A: It is an honor and a matter of pride for me to stand up for the Supreme Pontiff of Hinduism who is unjustly targeted. All allegations against the Supreme Pontiff of Hinduism (SPH) are baseless. Supreme Pontiff of Hinduism is innocent.. SPH is persecuted, He has not done any crime. I am proud to stand up for SPH.
The SPH is not a self-styled godman.
- The SPH was born in the family where the Supreme Pontiffs of Thondaimandala Adheenam are chosen. He was identified as an incarnation by traditional Hindu masters and authorities as per Hinduism just like the Dalai Lama is recognized in Buddhism.

A: Organizations representing Kailasa, have established sister city relationships with many cities around the world, to continue our humanitarian services and promote global peace through better understanding of diverse cultures.

Q: But Newark’s government has rescinded the agreement, calling it a scam and Kailasa a fictional city…
A: We have not scammed anyone. Organizations representing Kailasa, have established sister city relationships with many cities around the world to continue our humanitarian services and promote global peace through better understanding of diverse cultures. It is important to reiterate that Kailasa and its representatives have not scammed anyone, nor are we “fiction”. We are a legitimate organization established on the principles of Sanatana Hindu Dharma, and the Ancient Hindu Enlightenment Science in pursuit of serving humanity. We remain committed to our purpose towards global peace.

Q: The representatives of Kailasa have a unique dressing style — elaborate costume, jewelry and hairdo — what’s the idea behind the look?
KAILASA stands for lifestyle practices and values enshrined in Vedas and Agamas of Hinduism. The significance of Shiva jattas (hair do) and its impact on brain nervous system is widely explained in Kirana Agamas whilst traditional attire - Saree and its impact on feminine consciousness is explained in Shakta Agamas.
Our clothing and appearance are completely in alignment with the Vedas and Agamas - the constitution of Kailasa.
This authentic Hindu Vedagamic lifestyle that we radiate demonstrates our commitment to gender empowerment and religious freedom. People from different walks of life beyond age, marital status, race, colour are truly inspired and empowered with blissful life positive coexistence by adopting Hindu Vedagamic lifestyle.

Kiraṇa Āgama Mahātantra - Caryā Pāda, verse -28
Nākasphuṭa, Kaṭaka, Janaka (of circular form) – these are the varieties of Jaṭas. These kinds of Jaṭas are formed by partitioning the locks of hair into 15 or 13, 11, 9 or 5 parts. There are some more kinds of Jaṭas known as KANAKA, etc, which may be divided even into 50 or 36 or 38 or 28 or 81 or 14 parts according to one’s own convenience.

Q: You say that you have an investment vehicle to centralise Hindu devotee cash flow. How are Kailasa’s activities being funded and how much money has been raised?
A: Individual organs of Kailasa operate through locally registered NGOs and receive donations in accordance with the local regulatory legal framework.

Q: Ms Vijayapriya Nithyananda, please tell us more about yourself… Where are you from and your family and educational background? What is your role as a permanent ambassador of Kailasa?
A: I grew up in Mauritius and completed my Cambridge O and A Levels there. Later, I pursued my BSc (Hons) in Microbiology at the University of Manitoba in Canada.
Although I was raised as a Hindu, I never had access to formal education on the religion, which was a source of frustration for me. It seemed that authentic sources were hard to come by, and misinformation was rampant.
Most importantly, SPH fights for gender equality in religion and women’s empowerment, which was very important to me as a woman.
It was through this experience that I decided to become a Hindu nun, or sanyasi, initiated by SPH himself. I'm now dedicated to the welfare of humanity, guided by SPH's teachings.
Today, I serve as KAILASA's Permanent Ambassador to the UN, spreading the message of SPH, KAILASA and promoting the values of Hinduism to the world and working for global peace.
