-Japan: +9.7%, +11.2%

AND INDIA?
-Petrol: just +3.2%

We aren't comparing ourselves with just Pakistan, Bangladesh, or Sri Lanka-type countries. Look at the data, all major countries are mentioned.

Think about it. USA and UAE are oil-rich countries. China is a very rich & developed country. Canada, Germany, Australia, Japan, etc. may not be oil-rich, but their population-to-economy balance is far better and they are wealthy nations. Yet, even they couldn't remain unaffected by the global oil crisis, and their fuel price hikes were much bigger than ours.

Do you really think that if any other govt was at the Centre during this period, fuel prices would have remained unaffected, or we would have seen only such a small increase?
