Master's Thesis at Biogeosys (NISER)- Neritimorpha Diversification | INSPIRE'20 | IAS SRF'22.
A girl interested in space, genome and all that comes in between.
A simple flow of gas over water may have helped kickstart life on early Earth.
Research shows how evaporation and fluid flow in a narrow channel can drive isothermal DNA replication, offering a plausible, low-temp setting for early molecular evolution.

Congratulations to Rajula Srivastava on winning the Maryam Mirzakhani New Frontiers Prize for contributions in harmonic analysis and analytic number theory. https://t.co/Y0nVllFhAn @UniBonn
A timely piece about the need for a natural history museum in India - what I like to call the ‘time-capsule for biodiversity education & research’! Huge potential & little action, but it’s never too late. https://t.co/N0fm8KlWaH
Congratulations to @avrajjal from @SBSNISER on successfully defending his Ph.D. thesis, "Biogeography and Systematics of three wet-zone Skink genera (Family: Scincidae) from the Indian Subcontinent," guided by @skinkomaniac!

This summer , I am looking forward to taking at least one PhD candidate at https://t.co/w1svlBp2Av.
If you are interested in Macroevolution, phylo-genetics/genomics, biogeography, population genetics and reptiles (especially skinks) feel free to get in touch with me or any of my lab members directly. I would love to discuss ideas! Feel free to reach out to me at [email protected]

Dear @GermanyinMumbai@GermanyinIndia@GermanyDiplo, my Schengen visa application has been in German consulate Mumbai since past 30 days (15 days usual). Repeated calls and mails gone unanswered. Flight on 19th Jan. Application ref: DEU/MHL/161224/0073/01. @meaindia1#VisaDelay
Big article reviewing Earth-Life co-evolution in the Precambrian.
"The interaction of life and Earth was and is reciprocal, hence the term biogeodynamics...." True.

(1/5) New paper alert! Check the🧵for more information! My super talented student @avrajjal took the lead and our wonderful collaborators included @AniruddhaMarat2@VivekCyriac , Umesh K.P and @vidishakulkarni . Special thanks to the Kerala forest department @ForestKerala for their support. Here’s the link to the paper: https://t.co/n8v2jcZZlW
My lab members made this super cool video showcasing snippets of what we do in our BioGeoSys lab! It's so addictive! I can't stop watching it and be proud of all the lab members, past and present @SBSNISER#LabKeBacche#BIOGEOSYS
I wrote a little Blogpost about how to make figures interactive, using the python library bokeh: https://t.co/5cNQ3h3N8r I use this quite often to better understand multivariate phenotypic data (e.g., in PCA), especially if it's abstract (e.g. image embeddings from AI models)
Surfing trees!!! 🏄♀️🌊🌳
I really enjoyed writing this perspective with @dortega_delv@CharlestonCWKC@christiandhuber. We talk about the promises of using the ARG for evolutionary inferences.
Abstract in Portuguese, Spanish and Chinese in the supplement

Reindeer Cyclones are a phenomenon where a herd of anxious reindeer forms a swirling mass, making it difficult to single out individual animals.
The fawns remain protected at the centre of this circular stampede.
We had the pleasure of having @ragh_gadagkar in the house! As usual, he mesmerized the audience @niser_official with his talk that puts together years of work done on primitively eusocial wasps.
I am absolutely elated to announce that @Maktub_31 from our lab got the prestigious Khorana fellowship AND the research internship program at the Arnold Arboretum at @Harvard! All of us in the lab are super proud of you Aditi! You absolutely deserve it! #biogeosyskebacche
I remember them being really sour, and they paired well with some salt as an afternoon snack. I remember asking my mom to pick some for me when she came to visit me.
Yet another core memory lost.
Right beyond that boundary was gooseberry tree (ଜଙ୍ଗଲି ଅଁଳା, as we know it). This post made me check that place out and lo, it's gone. I remember the tree laden with the fruits, and a tiny shake to the trunk raining the fruits down onto the roof of our outhouse.
Sometimes you see a visual stimulus that transports you right back to childhood and for just a minute, you’re a giddy young kid again and all is well in the universe 🪐 recently it was seeing this small gooseberry tree on campus @ccmb_csir, an indelible part of my childhood 🤩
Our first seminar of the new year is coming up on March 4th! Join us at 1PM ET/5PM UTC for Dr. Philip Donoghue from @BristolUni's presentation on "The nature of the Last Universal Common Ancestor and its impact on the early Earth system.” #astrobiology
