A Junior Engineer (JE) in the MCD, a relatively junior public servant with limited pay and status in the government hierarchy.
Yet, the post is often regarded as one of the most sought-after positions in the municipal system.
The obvious question is: why?
If one were to compare the declared and actual assets of certain officials against the total legitimate earnings possible over an entire service career, many uncomfortable questions would arise.
When a relatively junior post becomes more coveted than several senior government positions, the issue is not protocol, rank, or salary. The issue is the ecosystem that makes it so valuable.
Perhaps it is time for a serious audit of assets, accountability, and enforcement
Delhi High Court was told that no construction activity was taking place at the site.
Days later, the under construction building collapsed. Many Lives were lost.
MCD is one of the most corruption-ridden institution in the country. The organised mafia doesn't shy filing false affidavits in courts.
For them few lakhs is greater than a human life.
If the court was told one thing and the ground reality was another, who is accountable?
#BREAKING Centre notifies the appointment of 5 new #SupremeCourt Judges. They are :
Justice Sheel Nagu, Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court;
Justice Shree Chandrashekhar, Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court;
Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva, Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court;
Justice Arun Palli, Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh; and
Senior Advocate V. Mohana.
This is beyond shocking—a complete collapse of deterrence.
It seems perpetrators act no fear of law or consequences, it reflects a deeper failure of law and order too
Hoping the Punjab Police acts swiftly and decisively.

While GRAP-1 is back to tackle pollution, here’s a ground reality we can’t ignore.
In South Delhi’s Jonapur, garbage lies dumped in the open for days—and is then often burnt. I see this every day on my way to court.
This isn’t just negligence, it’s a recurring, man-made pollution problem.
Amidst all the PR and Instagram politics, this is the ground reality of Delhi, in the constituency of MLA Kartar Singh Tanwar.

Time for the Delhi Government and MCD to step in and fix this daily mess.

COURTROOM EXCHANGE
Irfan Pathan & Yusuf Pathan Case
During hearing before Justice Prateek Jalan, Delhi High Court
Sr Adv Rebecca John: We have arrived at a settlement; MOU has been filed. I am seeking setting aside of the bail cancellation order.
Adv Prateek Som: There has been continuous deception and breach. This is the third MOU. I am opposing it.
The President is pleased to increase the Judge strength of the Supreme Court from 33 to 37 Judges (Excluding the Chief Justice of India) by promulgating The Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Amendment Ordinance, 2026, which has further amended the “Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Act, 1956”.
When Hon’ble CJI Justice Surya Kant used the term “parasites”, it was not for the youth at large, but for those misusing the system—individuals with fake or bogus law degrees posing as advocates and eroding the integrity of the profession.
A strong but warranted remark. The legal system cannot be allowed to be diluted by imposters masquerading in black coats.
In courtrooms, context is everything—every remark and argument must be understood in its proper setting.
Unfortunately, some so-called “legal journalists,” many without even basic legal credentials, have completely misrepresented that context.
This young man with folded hands wanted mercy from the Court when it wanted to throw him behind bars. No lawyer should have to find himself or herself in a situation where he or she is forced to have to do that.
Deeply disturbing. How can a High Court judge speak to an advocate like this? Judicial office demands dignity and restraint. This kind of conduct shakes faith in the system—if it persists, serious review of judicial work allocation to this judge is warranted.
Deeply disturbing to see a newly enrolled lawyer to be treated in such a manner. What is more troubling is that the Bar couldn’t even stand up for one of its own!
The law is evolving and so is the way it’s practiced.
In this teaser from our upcoming conversation on The Bar Bulletin, three young practitioners : Nipun Saxena, Zafar Khurshid, and Prateek Som come together to unpack what it really means to be a lawyer today.
This is a glimpse into a candid, unfiltered discussion on the future of law, the pressures of practice, and the realities young lawyers are navigating today.

#Breaking | Delhi judicial officer Jay Thareja, who has served as a CBI judge and is presently Central Project Coordinator at the Delhi High Court, flags serious concerns over State custody of digital evidence under e-forensics and e-Sakshya.
Drawing from his experience as a CBI judge, Thareja says the State is “fully capable of tampering” with MLCs, post-mortem reports, forensic material and BNSS Section 105 videos if such records are housed with agencies rather than the judiciary
