@kenyanmcduffie No one can defend the status quo. But what is needed is not someone who is going to play safe with the Trump administration, when what we need is to not cooperate in advance. That is why Free DC has endorsed JlG
🚨 HISTORIC MOMENT 🚨
🏛️ The true name of PubPeer, i.e., “PubSmear,” originally coined by @Kevin_McKernan, has for the first time entered the United States Congressional Record.
The term appeared through the inclusion of Dr. @MaryanneDemasi’s article, entered into the record by @SenRonJohnson.
The article examines concerns that PubPeer’s unchecked anonymity can be weaponized to harass, discredit, defame, and intimidate researchers who challenge established narratives.
The debate over anonymous, coordinated so-called post-publication criticism on the compromised PubPeer—and the perpetrators (approximately 30 individuals, as documented by the ScienceGuardians™ Legal and Investigative Team) operating the network mob behind it under the guise of research integrity—has now reached the halls of Congress.
It is time to investigate the 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status of the fraudulent PubPeer Foundation.
It is also time to examine the institutional arm of the PubPeer “PubSmear” Network Mob, Retraction Watch (also referred to as “Retraction Mob”), and its parent organization, the Center for Scientific Integrity (CSI), both of which operate under the 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status.

🔱 We at @SciGuardians thank all those who continue to stand against abuse, intimidation, and censorship in science and to work tirelessly in support of genuine research integrity and accountability.
Here's a note the area's ANC commissioners wrote to MPD on this.
It underlines a key point: MPD wasn't on scene at all. Chief Carroll has repeatedly told the council he wants to continue collaborating with the task force so stuff like this doesn't happen...but it already is.
We simply don’t have home rule if we dictate what local policy we can pass and not pass based on how Trump will react to it. A lot of folks what to give up home rule in an effort to save it. No thanks. They don’t have 60 votes.
Very good fact checking from @maustermuhle. Love this part which is like “is Lewis George be editing from “dark money” as Kenyan McDuffie suggests? No- it’s not dark money at all. But there is a candidate getting dark money- Kenyan McDuffie.”
This speech was reminiscent of what these years have felt like. “Mayor Bowser presents the Muriel Bowser Fiesta DC Festival w/ special guest Muriel Bowser.” Always about her, never about community. Bragging about her business deals while slashing the safety net. Good riddance.
@billyez2 1. Criticizes public investment in Metro
2. Assumes transit must pay for itself
3. Double standard for cars v. transit
4. Fails to reckon with operational realities of running WMATA
5. Blames workers for budget issues
6. Called for layoffs on May Day as a lame attempt to be edgy

Genuine question- is there anything that the Democratic Party stands for that Matthew Yglesias is for besides maybe some social issues? Anti-environment, anti-regulation, virulently anti-teacher, anti-violence prevention, anti-universal child care...I mean...
So, @tomsherwood are you going to credit @CMLewisGeorgeW4 with being for good and open government, or just going to continue to tar her with being a progressive as if that was a bad thing.
The DC Council willingly and enthusiastically followed Chairman Phil Mendelson’s gutting of open meeting requirements. So when any of them say they are for “transparency,” they transparently are not.
@kenyanmcduffie Sorry, but I don't trust the brass or the Police Union which have turned the whole operation into something other then what it should be focused on - actual public safety. You are in alignment with Mayor Bowser who set up the conditions for this cover-up.
.@kenyanmcduffie 2020: “The police have been over-policing in communities of color for a very long time. There’s only so much you can do to change that culture of policing.”
Mcduffie 2026: “We’re gonna hire 1,000 new police officers.”
@charlesallen Agreed, and in subsequent legislation, her staff remained heavily involved in shaping the design of the Pay Equity Fund. Both on direct payments to early educators and PEF grants (what we have now).
She’s thoughtful, engaged on everything, and she’s very good at oversight. Partnership isn’t weak or “hitching your wagon”. Creating bold solutions to stabilize the childcare industry couldn’t and shouldn’t have happened without women’s leadership. 2/2
Ears were 🔥 during tonight’s Mayoral debate. Gotta fact check tho. The amendment referenced providing better childcare for working parents wasn’t mine alone, it was collaborative leadership with Janeese. We wrote it together & changed lives and bank accounts for thousands. 1/2
