When Mary was defined as "Mother of God" at the Council of Ephesus (431AD), it was less a statement of who Mary is, and more about who Jesus is. People, even then, tried saying Jesus was not God, just human. We are saying Jesus was fully God and fully man IN THE WOMB

@trcecil_ @TrevorCurb @realJohnDouglas Because Mary didn't give birth to a nature, she gave birth to a person. Jesus is a hypostatic union of a human and a divine nature. Mary didn't give birth to just Jesus' human nature; she gave birth to Jesus. He can't be split apart like that.
