God blesses and uses different types of preaching.. not only just expository preaching.

BUT..

I would say that the number one reason that men choose to preach topically instead of expository is the amount of work and study involved.

It is easy to find a verse or two to go along with your 3 points and illustrations, but to dive into the text..it takes you out of it and makes it about the Word.

Expository preaching does not have to be boring and dry. The Bible message should be passionate and powerful because it is the Word that is alive and being expounded upon.

Expository preaching has helped build up our church growth from 87 people to nearly 600 every Sunday morning. People are hungry for the Word.

“1. Rightly divide the Word of truth.

Expository, biblical preaching declares what the Bible says, not what we want it to say.

2. Exalt Jesus Christ. In every message, I want to lift up the cross and point both saved and lost listeners to Jesus.

And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. (Col. 1:18)

3. Equip the saints. It is the Word of God that brings spiritual maturity for life and service.

And he gave…pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: (Eph. 4:11–12)

Pastors, I encourage and challenge you, "Preach the Word!" Preach it rightly. Preach it to lift up Christ. And preach it to equip God's people to spiritual maturity.”
