A lady shared her story about being the youngest among her siblings of four girls. Among them all, she was the only one who had gone through female genital mutilation. She doesn't know why that happened and doesn't even remember when it was done. Then as she grew up, she slowly started realising that something was very odd about her.

Even after finding out, she refused to let it restrict her life, especially her love life. She gave herself chance to love. She's just 24 years and have been in only two relationships. Unfortunately, she lost both relationships because in their words, “they can't marry someone like her.”

“What is someone like her?” She asked. They really couldn't answer that question without stammering. She remembered one even saying, "It is better to marry a woman who is not a virgin than to marry a woman like her.”

In a way, they were right because she doesn't enjoy the act of sex at all. Even a log of wood is better than her. She also complained how her mates are out there exploring their fantasies and having good sexx, and she can't even boast of just one good one. Some are married, already with kids and again, here she is.

She's not in any relationship, and doesn't know how her life will be. As she's unable to enjoy sexx, she doesn't know what she's even doing in this world. Maybe she's part of the set of people who were meant to be born and suffer, and if that is the case, she may have no other choice than to carry her cross.

But even as she carries it all, she has justified her conscience by speaking up and letting the world know the inhuman act she is going through because of her parents. What even worries her more is their inability to give her a tangible reason for putting her through this.

So, as a parent, before considering female genital mutilation on your children, ponder on the consequences and its negative effects as they grow old.
