Developing news on the equipment front as #GIS19 approaches: @JohnDeere enters agreement with Netherlands-based @Precisionmakers to develop autonomous solutions for golf. https://t.co/IKByq5lBDu
Our last one for #NationalTriviaDay. This year we partnered with @Precisionmakers and @essexbigga to showcase new guidance system #technology with the UK's first autonomous mower. While used regularly in Agriculture, the technology is now available in turfcare.
@efarmerdot@MartinAbell24@Trimble_Ag@topconag@AgLeaderTech@olsonleah Correct, we implement quite a lot of self checks eg lateral and longitudinal deviation, fix errors, lidar warm up, dtc’s from vehicle, tyre pressure, wheel slip (constant check between dead reckoning and Gps position and speed)
@efarmerdot@MartinAbell24@Trimble_Ag@topconag@AgLeaderTech@olsonleah My discussions with the German TUV learned me that there is a lot unknown, even if under which legislation a driverless tractor would fall. We apply 2 basic principes: is it forbidden (y/n) in a country and can we have it insured (y/n). If both are met, we could go ahead.
@MartinAbell24@efarmerdot@Trimble_Ag@topconag@AgLeaderTech You are right, most probably they are working on it or have it already on the shelf in an early stage. However, even if you are full liner and can release these solutions for your own products only, the dealer network will be slow to adopt and to gain experience.
@MartinAbell24@efarmerdot@Trimble_Ag@topconag@AgLeaderTech And that is mainly still done by low tech implements, which lack self monitoring or self diagnostics. It is even sometimes difficult for an unskilled driver to perform the job right, let alone getting the farmers skills into an embedded controller :)
@MartinAbell24@efarmerdot@Trimble_Ag@topconag@AgLeaderTech Hi Martin, all companies you mention still focus on autosteering with a driver in the cab, or master-slave (Trimble). Most of them still consider autonomy as something futuristic. Key is that in agriculture a robotised system will also be judged by the quality of work done.
Super trots dat we vandaag de @HAKnl I-weeder kunnen presenteren op de #BIOtechniekdag18. Een in-rij cameraschoffel machine die ik samen met @HAKnl ontwikkeld heb.
