My Tactical Analysis/Breakdown
This final is fascinating because itβs basically two opposite superpowers colliding:
On one hand you have Arteta's army = structure, control, duels, setpiece, defensive stability.
On the other hand you have Enrique's men = chaos, transition, dribbling, fluid movement, isolation football.
Should Eze start over Odegaard?
Personally, I would start Odegaard with Rice and Skelly.
Odegaard gives pressing structure, tempo contro, positional discipline, counter pressing triggers and chemistry with saka.
Eze gives you unpredictability, central space access, ability to break psg press.
Arteta knows he cannot lose midfield Organisation and if he starts too many "free" creators, the parisian boys will play through it.
Also, Arteta must resist from starting havertz tomorrow ahead of gyΓΆkeres.
PSG hate defending sustained physical pressure centrally. Inter failed last year because they couldnβt stretch PSG athletically enough in transition. Arsenal can.
GyΓΆkeres also pins defenders better, which creates space for Saka and Martinelli/Trossard.
Against PSGβs aggressive full-backs, Arsenal NEED an outlet.
I still believe PSGβs biggest weakness is still physical directness into transition spaces behind the midfield.
GyΓΆkeres can punish that immediately.
I expect Rice to be influential in that midfield, i watched alot of PSGβs games since last Sunday and noticed vintinha is always the free man accessing the middle of the park. Rice have to be on his A game to stop that access. And if there's a midfielder that can hunt relentlessly, it's Rice.
I predict a 2-1 win for Arsenal.
