I still remember September 27, 2025.

It was a Saturday night. I was at Bangalore, getting ready to board a train to Chennai.

Until that evening, I had watched almost every campaign video of Thalapathy Vijay. Nagapattinam. Trichy. Ariyalur. Thiruvarur. Every speech from the previous week. I had even watched a portion of his morning speech at Namakkal.

An influential industry friend called me in the morning that day and said:

“Unga aal game-ah ye maathitaru. Ippadiye pona, you can even win the elections.”

The irony? The same person had earlier told me weeks back that winning even 10 seats would be difficult.

Then, around 8 PM, @AVinthehousee called.

“Karur-la someone has died. Periya issue aayiduchu.”

My heart sank.

Vikravandi immediately came to my mind.

Not again.

I was rushing to catch my train, so I couldn’t understand exactly what had happened.

Then I reached the station.

Calls started coming in.

Friends from different political parties. Some of them had openly hated Thalapathy as an actor.

But this time, I could hear something different in their voices.

They were happy.

They genuinely believed Vijay’s political career was over.

I boarded the train.

The moment I settled in, I took out my phone, charged it and started reading everything I could about the Karur tragedy.

And for the first time in nearly 20 years of being a Thalapathy fan, even I started wondering:

“Is this the end?”

But the more I read, the more I realised how much bigger the public sentiment was than the political narrative being created around it.

I saw ordinary people defending Vijay.

People who weren’t even TVK supporters.

People who genuinely believed that the tragedy was not something he had intended or wanted to happen.

And yes, I also saw people trying to turn a tragedy into a political weapon.

That part hurt the most.

Because behind every political argument was a family that had lost someone.

A few days later, I had a conversation with a friend who supported a different political party.

I told him:

“Based on the support I’m seeing, Thalapathy is going to win.”

He laughed.

He laughed as much as he could.

He called a few others and made a joke out of what I had said. He even challenged me after that.

But I never changed my opinion.

Not because I was blindly confident.

But because of what I was seeing around me.

The support. The conversations. The sentiment among ordinary people.

That conversation had stayed with me until May 4,2026.

Today TVK has won and Thalapathy is the CM of the state. And today, what hurts despite he winning it is seeing the Karur tragedy still being dragged out as political ammunition.

Criticise Thalapathy Vijay. Criticise TVK. Question the administration. Question the decisions. Demand accountability.

Do all of it.

But please don’t turn dead people into political weapons.

Those people had families.

They had mothers waiting for them.

Fathers expecting them to come home.

Children waiting to see them again.

They weren’t numbers.

They weren’t hashtags.

They weren’t campaign material.

They were human beings.

Our heart will always go out to every single family that lost someone that day.

Whatever politics comes after it, nothing should ever be bigger than the lives that were lost.

Some tragedies should make us human before they make us political.

🚨 Greater Chennai Police is investigating a sensitive case related to POCSO offences. It has been observed that certain photographs/clips of a minor girl have been shared in media as well as in Social media handles.

⚠️ Sharing of any such pictures of a minor is a criminal offence. Publication of any such picture is an offence under section 23(2) POCSO Act and warrants legal action. Hence it is requested not to share any such information in public. Anyone having evidence related to this case may produce it with Greater Chennai Police.

11th–15th-Bed rest.
16th -Tamilnadu’s first foreign university engagement - University of Western Australia.
18th- Walgreens.
20th- State-level Salem Women’s Kabaddi competition a first-of-its-kind initiative in the village; met our Transport Minister and attended a wedding.
21st-Starbucks GCC signing, UPS and Best Minds.
22nd morning-Breakfast Scheme. Doctor had advised me not to lift anything heavy, but for those few seconds, I still wanted to personally serve a child.

And throughout these days:

I never asked for sympathy.
I never asked for a “Get Well Soon” tweet.
I never asked anyone to praise my dedication.

I simply went back to work. Because that is my job.

Perhaps the commitment is stronger than the discomfort. ❤️

That strength comes from my Amma, Appa and my Anna, Hon. Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay,who taught me responsibility, resilience and never to give up.

And to those who mocked my health:

Please apologise not to me, but to the women in your own homes. Mocking a woman’s health is nothing to be proud of.

And if you’re still doubtful about the surgery, I’ll let you know the dressing and stitch-removal date. Come see it yourself.

The State comes first. The work speaks for itself. ❤️
