After an action packed few days, Year 4 have returned safely home from their residential trip. From archery, gladiator climbing and bushcraft survivor skills, to buggy building, forest games and nightline walking, the children have thrown themselves into a range of activities!
Year 6 were inspired by M G Leonard to create their own books. They set about designing title pages, blurbs, setting maps and some girls even wrote the first few chapters. We appear to have quite a few budding authors in our midst!
We were delighted to welcome Mrs. Jardella, a former parent and skin/beauty expert, into school on Thursday to give a talk to our Year 6 girls about her experience and journey in the beauty industry. This linked wonderfully with their recent LifeLab enterprise project!
Today Year 3 have had a huge amount of fun with their Easter Scavenger Hunt kindly organised by FOST. The girls enjoyed a number of Easter themed challenges and activities and were each given an Easter Egg to celebrate the end of term.
Today, some of the girls have been participating in a "Volcano Workshop" where they have been learning geology facts and becoming volcanoes themselves through some fantastic dance moves!
Year 4 kickstarted their new topic, 'Road Trip USA' with a scavenger hunt, using clues to find some of the states of the USA that were hidden around the school. They then needed to use these clues and other resources to answer questions about the geography of the USA.
The girls were very excited to start building the Bug Hotel near the prep playground. So far, they have completed two pallet levels and filled every nook and cranny with leaf mulch, sticks, logs, bark, large stones and an old metal pipe.
In Science, the girls were completing their work on the layers of soil and finished off by creating their own soil dessert pots using Oreos, chocolate drops, chocolate mousse, worms and green coconut. They labelled the different layers.
Year 4 put on a fantastic assembly this morning showcasing their knowledge of the Vikings. Their performance was a delightful blend of superb acting, enchanting singing, and witty humour, captivating both parents and fellow prep students. We were thoroughly impressed!
As part of their topic 1066, Year 4 have been studying the Bayeaux Tapestry. After learning about the Battle of Hastings and events that followed, including the creation of the Domesday Book, they chose a section of the embroidery to sketch.
