A historic day: A couple weeks ago, the first graduates of our prison education program walked across the commencement stage as the recipients of a full Hope College degree.
It was a beautiful day, filled with HOPE!
Commencement celebrated over 730 graduates from the U.S. and 17 international locations, plus three Ready for Life graduates, at Ray and Sue Smith Stadium.

Instead of focusing exclusively on the mastery of knowledge, what if college campuses were incubators for hope? What if we taught hope? Tested hope? Measured hope? What if the purpose of college was to create ambassadors of hope?

It was an honor to serve on a panel with the legendary former president of Wake Forest, Nathan Hatch, at the Council of Independent Colleges annual gathering of college presidents this past week. We talked about generosity and Hope’s Character Forward grant.
