At the heart of Bengal’s ethos lies the celebration of excellence, and Smt. @MamataOfficial has always led by example.
At the iconic Eden Gardens today, she felicitated Richa Ghosh, whose triumph on the world stage stands as a testament to grit, grace, and glory.
In her, Bengal sees not just a champion cricketer, but the reflection of every young girl who dared to dream.
Smt. @MamataOfficial conferred the prestigious Banga Bhushan award on World Cup winner Richa Ghosh, celebrating her remarkable contribution to Indian cricket.
Richa Ghosh's achievement is a shining example of Bengal’s sporting excellence and the power of determination, dedication, and talent. The honour reflects the State’s deep pride in her journey and the inspiration she brings to young athletes across Bengal and India.
Heartiest congratulations to Richa Ghosh, the pride of Bengal and Women’s World Cup champion!
Smt. @Mamataofficial felicitated Richa Ghosh and congratulated her coach and the Indian women’s cricket team for their historic Women’s World Cup victory.
Richa’s remarkable achievement is a testament to the talent, determination, and spirit of Bengal’s daughters, inspiring countless young girls across the state to dream big and aim high.
BJP has blood on its hands. With the silent complicity of @ECISVEEP, they rammed through the SIR process with ruthless disregard for the panic, confusion, and despair it would unleash among ordinary citizens.
The result is unfolding before our eyes, innocent lives being lost, families shattered, and a climate of terror gripping Bengal. Kakoli Sarkar, a 32-year-old homemaker from Titagarh, was driven to take her own life, a victim of a system engineered to break the spirit of our people.
But Bengal does not abandon her own. Our leaders stood by her family, not just to offer condolences, but to reaffirm the promise that no mother, no daughter, no family will ever be made to feel stateless in their own soil.
57-year-old Pradeep Kar of Panihati took his own life, leaving behind a note blaming NRC for pushing him to the edge. You would expect @BJP4India to show an ounce of remorse, some basic human empathy. Instead, they played politics with a dead man’s memory, mocked his pain, and trivialised his death.
The same Party that engineered the climate of fear which drove him to despair is now shamelessly denying responsibility. This is the moral bankruptcy of a Party that feeds on fear, weaponises anxiety, and crushes the vulnerable under the weight of its propaganda.
Our leaders stood by Pradeep Kar’s bereaved family today, offering comfort, courage, and compassion in this moment of unbearable loss. Because while BJP treats people as collateral in its lust for power, we treat them as our own.
Jahir Mal, a resident of Uluberia, ended his life, driven to despair by a spelling error in his official documents.
He feared that one misplaced letter could strip him of his citizenship, his rights, his very identity under the dreaded SIR process. This is a tragedy authored by @BJP4India and rubber-stamped by a complicit @ECISVEEP.
Our leaders stood beside Jahir’s family, offering comfort, dignity, and the assurance that Bengal will not bow to this regime of fear. Every such death is a stain on BJP’s conscience, one they can never wash away.
As Smt. @MamataOfficial noted from Eden Gardens, Bengal’s daughters are leading the way in sports, bringing pride to the state at every level.
This is not just a celebration of wins; it is a celebration of ambition, preparation, and relentless effort.
60-year-old Hasina Begum from Dankuni died of a heart attack after discovering that her name was missing from the 2002 electoral roll. She died of fear deliberately manufactured by @BJP4India through the SIR process.
Each life lost is a direct consequence of BJP’s cynical political experiment, executed with the full backing of a complicit @ECISVEEP. In their lust for power, they’ve stripped people of their peace, dignity, and now, their lives.
While BJP sits in Delhi scripting new ways to divide and dehumanise, our leaders stood beside the grieving family, offering solace, strength, and the assurance that Bengal will not abandon its own.
A 49-year-old woman from Sheoraphuli was found hanging, another innocent life snuffed out by the fear and despair unleashed through the SIR process. Her name was missing from the 2002 list, and the terror of being branded “foreign” in her own land drove her to the unthinkable.
Let Narendra Modi look this reality in the eye. This is the cost of his unbridled lust for power. Let Amit Shah see the grotesque aftermath of his “DETECT–DELETE–DEPORT” diktat, ordinary citizens dying under the weight of state-induced panic.
Today, our leaders visited the grieving family, sharing in their sorrow, listening to their pain, and standing beside them Because where Delhi’s power-drunk rulers sow fear, Bengal will continue to stand for compassion, courage, and conscience.
Bengal's daughters are Bengal’s greatest pride. I had the privilege of attending a special felicitation ceremony organised by the Cricket Association of Bengal at the iconic Eden Gardens, honouring Richa Ghosh for her outstanding contribution to India’s World Cup triumph.
On behalf of the Government of West Bengal, I conferred upon her the ‘Banga Bhushan’, one of the state’s highest civilian honours. I also announced her appointment as Deputy Superintendent of Police in the West Bengal Police.
The presence of legends like Shri Sourav Ganguly, Smt. Jhulan Goswami, and other distinguished guests made the evening even more memorable. May more daughters like Richa continue to emerge from every home in Bengal, inspiring generations and carrying our nation’s name to even greater heights on the world stage.
.@BJP4India, your own ministry just torpedoed your “Industry-averse Bengal” fairy tale. As per @MCA21India’s reply in Parliament:
✅ Bengal’s corporate base has nearly doubled from 1,37,156 (2011) to 2,50,343 (2025)
✅ In just the last six years, 44,040 companies were incorporated in Bengal, while only 1,742 shifted their registered offices out
✅ That’s ~25 new companies for every 1 that moved out
✅ A net +42,298
This is what governance under Smt. @MamataOfficial looks like: steady expansion, investor stickiness, and real-economy growth. So drop the tired trope. Bengal builds. BJP bluffs.
If the 2024 voter list was so riddled with flaws that it warranted a Special Intensive Revision, then the entire mandate is tainted.
By that logic, the Lok Sabha should be dissolved, and the Prime Minister, Home Minister, and Defence Minister should resign.
Our Parliamentary Party Leader in the Lok Sabha, Shri @abhishekaitc, tore into the hypocrisy of those in power. How can a Govt. born out of a manipulated voter list claim legitimacy?
I am deeply honoured by the trust reposed in me by our party chairperson Didi @MamataOfficial and my fellow MPs of the All India Trinamool Congress, in choosing me to lead our parliamentary party in the Lok Sabha.
With full commitment and humility, I take on this responsibility and pledge to work closely with all my colleagues to ensure that Trinamool’s voice remains strong and unwavering in Parliament. Together, we will continue to resist the authoritarianism of the Union Government and defend the core values of our Constitution - JUSTICE, LIBERTY, EQUALITY AND FRATERNITY.
Our mission remains clear: To protect the rights, respect and aspirations of the people of Bengal. I thank every dedicated worker and supporter of the @AITCofficial for their continued belief in me and our cause and I am also extremely grateful to our senior parliamentarians for their invaluable support, guidance and encouragement.

Today, from Jhargram, I had the honour of commencing Biswa Adivasi Diwas celebrations which will continue across districts till the 10th of this month. I also inaugurated 215 key projects worth more than ₹392 crore and laid the foundation for 106 new projects worth more than ₹157 crore. I was pleased to witness direct benefit transfers extended to over 3 lakh beneficiaries in Jhargram.
There was a time when Jhargram bore witness to daily strife and unrest. But ever since the Maa-Mati-Manush Sarkaar came to power, we have ushered in peace, stability, and prosperity through sustained development, compassionate governance, and people-first policies.
Today, however, we are confronted by forces who wish to undo all that we have collectively achieved. Through deliberate deprivation of funds, discriminatory detention and deportation of Bengalis in BJP-ruled states, and the backdoor imposition of NRC under the guise of Special Intensive Revision, attempts are being made to strip people of their identity, dignity, and citizenship.
Our identity is our strength. Without it, everything else stands lost. This land is our Janmabhoomi and our Karmabhoomi. We shall never allow its people to be treated as second-class citizens on their own soil. We will continue to stand as one in defence of our people, our culture, and our constitutional rights.
Today, as I walked alongside thousands in the Bhasha Andolan rally in Jhargram, I was reminded once again that Bengal has always stood tall as the cradle of India’s intellectual, cultural, and spiritual resurgence. From leading the national freedom movement to shaping the Indian Renaissance, Bengal has never faltered in the face of adversity. This is the land of Kobiguru Rabindranath Tagore, Kazi Nazrul Islam, Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, Swami Vivekananda, and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, a land that celebrates diversity, knowledge, and human dignity.
Yet today, the Bangla-birodhi Zamindars of BJP are attempting to erase our identity, insult our language, and wage a war on Bengalis across the country. In their ignorance and arrogance, they have dared to label Bangla as "Bangladeshi." Legitimate Indian citizens from Bengal are being subjected to inhumane treatment in BJP-ruled states, detained, harassed, even deported, simply for speaking Bangla with pride. NRC notices are being indiscriminately served to Bengalis, and through Special Intensive Revision, they are attempting to disenfranchise lakhs of genuine voters.
We will never allow the constitutional rights of our people to be trampled upon. We will never allow the soil, soul, or speech of Bengal to be disrespected. History bears witness that Bengal has always risen in resistance against tyrants. And I stand with my people as their watchful guardian ready to go to any length to protect their dignity, their rights, and their future. Bengal will never bow. Bengal will never break.
জয় বাংলা!
Today, I visited Ramakrishna Math, Kamarpukur, and laid the foundation stone for the guest house, bhog ghar, and parking centre. I also announced the formation of the Joyrambati-Kamarpukur Development Board, with a corpus of ₹10 crore to continue the ongoing developmental work. It was a poignant reminder of the timeless teachings of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahansa, Maa Sarada Devi, and Swami Vivekananda that continue to inspire and guide us.
Later, I visited a flood relief camp in Arambagh, where I had the honour of serving meals in the community kitchen and offering comfort to those affected. From there, I travelled to Ghatal, which is reeling under devastating floods caused by incessant rainfall and the unilateral release of an unprecedented 51,000 lakh cubic metres of water by DVC. I ensured that rescue and relief operations are being carried out swiftly. Despite the financial blockade imposed by the Central Government, I assured the people that our Maa, Mati, Manush Sarkar remains committed to their well-being. The Ghatal Master Plan, worth ₹1,500 crore, is being undertaken, with ₹500 crore already allocated for the current financial year.
I also visited Keshpur and interacted with the people. Passing by the house of Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, I was reminded of the monumental contributions of Bengalis and the richness of the Bangla language. It is deeply unfortunate that a deliberate, systematic attempt is now being made to criminalise our language. Questions are being raised on whether Bengali is even a language. Bengali-speakers are being hounded, hunted, and humiliated in BJP-ruled states. NRC notices are being issued to legitimate Indian citizens simply because they are from Bengal. They seem to have forgotten that without Bengali, there would be no National Anthem or National Song.
Now, through the Special Intensive Revision exercise, a veiled attempt is being made to disenfranchise genuine voters and implement NRC through the backdoor. We will not tolerate this. We will resist every injustice. And we will stand by the people, now and always.
Today, as I travelled through Kolkata, Chanditala, Khanakul, Pursurah, Arambagh, Kamarpukur, Khirpai, Ramjibanpur, Daspur, Keshpur, and Medinipur I came across lakhs and lakhs of people from all walks of life, across caste, creed, class, and community, including the youth, women, farmers, students, teachers, ASHA, ICDS and healthcare professionals, village resource persons, workers from the unorganised sector, party workers, and everyday citizens. The outpouring of love, warmth, and support from them deeply moved me. It is this faith and affection that gives me the strength to continue the good fight in selfless service of the people.
Our MPs are raising their voices to ensure better education for all!
Shri Kalipada Soren highlights in Parliament that the construction of the EMRS in Puna, Bandwan, has been stalled for over two years, with only boundary walls completed.
He urges the Tribal Affairs Ministry to take immediate action so that the school is completed and admissions can begin in the upcoming academic session.
Our MPs are actively advocating for better railway services to meet public demand.
Smt. @MpSajdaahmed raises the need for improved train services on the Howrah-Kharagpur and Howrah-Amta routes in Parliament. She urged the concerned authorities to take necessary steps to enhance connectivity and ease daily commutes for passengers.
