Since this photo, just over 9 months ago, Iowa State has:

• Lost it’s head coach and his contract/extension through 2032

• Nearly 80% of its starters to the transfer portal as a result, including one of the best/most accomplished QB’s in ISU history.

• Lost its best player to an injury (once again) during March Madness (Jefferson)

• Lost its best returning start to the transfer portal (Milan)

• Lost nearly its entire women’s basketball team, and best players in the country, to the portal

• Lost its gymnastics program to budget cuts/constraints

I’ve only been an Iowa State fan for ~30 years, so maybe someone can enlighten me… but I find it hard to believe there’s ever been a year in Iowa State athletics history with more promise, that ended in absolute utter disappointment than 2025-26.
