I used to get whipped by my dad with a belt. At least 10 lashes at a time. For things like a bad grade on a spelling test or not folding the towels. I can remember being as young as 4 and being whipped with a belt. I've raised two children and could never, ever bring myself to hit them. I think of this often. How much anger a person must carry in their everyday life to want to hit a child so hard that you need to do it with a weapon?
