@rosekeff Thank you so much to you and your baby for taking part, Rosie! We are so pleased that our results are out there now to help NICU teams decide which lines to use in prem babies, but we wouldn't have these results without the support of parents and families like you and your baby⭐️
@oelkhateeb@Anoo_Jain@EBNEO@LancetChildAdol Yes, standard lines are cheaper. We have also conducted a health economic analysis which will be reported separately in due course - will share the results on here once published.
Our June issue is out! This month, we feature @PrevailTrial, defining health risk in #ChildhoodObesity, reducing distress related to #NGtube insertion, human #bocaviruses and infections, & more! Read now 👉 https://t.co/lfbPl1U9ab
Thanks for the review @NeonatalResearc!
While it can feel disappointing not to see a positive intervention effect, Dr Barrington's blog post summarising our results discusses how important it is to have good quality evidence either way... "this is exactly why RCTs PREVAIL"
#NeoEBM@SamOddie great to see the PREVAIL trial published - 861 infants randomised, no evidence of benefit with miconazole and rifampicin-impregnated peripherally inserted central venous lines compared with standard lines in (mainly preterm) infants receiving neonatal care
We will be sharing a summary of the results shortly on twitter, our website, and via our charity colleagues which will give a clear breakdown of what we have found and what it means.
Without the babies who took part in PREVAIL, and their parents, we would not have results to share and the NICU community would not have good information to use when making decisions about long lines in their unit. A huge thank you to you all for taking part ⭐️
Hello everyone - we've been busy getting our results ready for publication and are looking forward to sharing them with you all very soon. Don't forget if you worked on PREVAIL at a recruiting site our Results Day is on 12/10/2018 - email to confirm your place!
We hope that our results will help doctors and nurses make decisions about the care of early or poorly babies in NICUs in the future, but quality information relies on enough babies and parents choosing to take part that we can be sure of any results.
We will also be sharing summaries of all the results for parents on our website and via our charity partners once available too. A huge thank you as always to all the #PrevailBabies and parents who took part.
Early PREVAIL results being shared with the Chief Investigators and CTRC trial team on Monday! We are very excited to see whether antimicrobial PICCS do help reduce BSI in neonates or if they are no better than standard lines.
