On Wednesday, October 9th at 5:30 p.m. at @BookwormOmaha, @Claribel_Ortega will discuss and sign "Witchlings: House of Elephants," book three in the Golden Sower-nominated #Witchlings series!
I meet and talk to so many people who believe that ALL school librarians do is check out books and put them back once kids return them. Here is just SOME of what they ACTUALLY do. And not on this list: foster a lifelong love of reading. And what could be more important than that?
Happy National School Librarian Day to the one and only, Ms. Prieksat!
Books, books, and more books are her life, but we also appreciate the extra she does for students and staff! It doesn’t go unnoticed!
Thank you Ms. Prieksat for helping to make Harrison #SimplyTheBest!
Our Scholastic Book Fair will once again be set up during conferences next week to peruse and purchase, if you choose, before or after your P/T Conference!
The Book Fair hours are:

We hope to see you there!
TEACHERS AND SCHOOL LIBRARIANS! I have banded together with a bunch of author and/or illustrator friends to give you a heartfelt THANK YOU for all you do. #AuthorsLoveTeachers Giveaway 2024 https://t.co/UNASdf2Pif via @LynMullalyHunt
People ask me why I read books that are in my school library. Pretty sure they think that the story wouldn’t be appealing. The one I just read taught me new Nazi horrors I’d never heard about before. How they stole children who could pass as Aryan & gave them to other Germans 🤯
Granbury Tx graduate challenges: "In the words of Fahrenheit 451, 'How long is it since you were really bothered? About something important, about something real?' It’s past time to be bothered about this. Show them we matter. Show them we won’t go back." https://t.co/pEno86FvPq
This book…y’all need to read it! The sooner the better. It touched so many things that ring true in my librarian heart. Books matter! It focuses on events surrounding WWII but censorship and banning books en masse is a huge red flag no matter the time period! 5⭐️s @brilabuskes
@StorinoDana Yes! I totally get what you mean. The next one is about two different characters that emerge in the first one. I’m really curious to see where it goes. Enjoy!!
Sixth graders: “Ms. Prieksat, do you want to take a picture of our dog for Twitter??” Me: “Do you want me to take a picture for Twitter?” Their big smiles and laughs told me the answer was yes so here it is! 😊#makerspace#brainflakes#theirlastlibraryclass@OPS_Harrison
Harrison has once again been recognized as a Common Sense School!
Ms. @PrieksatR spent time this year teaching each grade lessons about cyberbullying, digital friendships, online safety, digital citizenship, and fact checking online information.
This group of kindergartners earned a Snuggle a Stuffy Day in Library for awesome behavior! I see this group twice a week, more than any other class this year. A good time was had by all!! 😊 #librarianlife#growingreaders#snuggleastuffy@OPS_Harrison
