So so many tweets attacking IFS officer Dr Satyanjal Pandey for his one hand in the pocket.
When you see something odd, check for facts.
I did not want to say this but Satyanjal sir has a deformed left hand and is handicapped.
That hasn’t stopped him from being one of the most dynamic officers of his career age. He was India’s DHC in Colombo and now C’da in Islamabad.
And yes, he always has kept that hand in his pocket.

When people from the Northeast make headlines, it’s usually because someone confused us with a foreign country.
But today Assam’s own Tapan Kumar Deka retires as the first Northeasterner to lead the Intelligence Bureau and the longest-serving one at that.
Turns out we’re great at keeping secrets too. 🤫
Modern India's 'most consequential Assamese', Tapan Deka, IPS, retires today as longest-serving Director of Intelligence Bureau, after two extensions. A lifetime in shadows. Normal mortals will never know what you have done for India as its "Super Spy." Take a bow, Tapan Da..
Following the #blockage of the flow of the #SijiRiver (#GaiNadi) at the Siji-Magi Block Point in #LowerSiang district due to a massive #landslide, an artificial lake has formed. Informing this, the Lower Siang district administration has urged residents, especially those in #Likabali, villages along the Siji River (Gai Nadi), and downstream areas in neighbouring #Assam, to remain alert, as there is a possibility of a powerful #flashflood without warning if the artificial dam breaks. Such an event could endanger lives, homes, livestock, roads, bridges, and other public infrastructure downstream.
The administration has directed all residents to remain on #highalert and follow official advisories at all times. People have been advised to stay away from riverbanks, avoid unnecessary #travel near the #river, evacuate low-lying and flood-prone areas if instructed by the authorities, and be prepared to move to safer locations at short notice. Residents have also been urged to immediately report any sudden rise in the river's water level, unusual sounds, or signs of the blockage weakening to the nearest administrative or police authority. However, in the latest information, the #disastermanagement department informed that the water is slowly receding from the lake. But the department has urged people to still remain alert.
Hair raising video from Arunachal Pradesh shows a biker riding a landslide (28.06.2026)
Amidst incessant rains across NE India, a video from Siji, Lower Siang shows a landslide carrying a biker down with it & blocking the Siji River.
Luckily, the biker escaped unharmed. He should probably buy a lottery!
#Heavyrainfall has lashed several parts of #ArunachalPradesh, as rivers continue to flow above danger levels. The India Meteorological Department had warned of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall across several parts of the state from Sunday. A #redalert has been issued for parts of the #LowerSiang, #WestSiang, and #EastSiang districts.
India has a new Intelligence Chief, as most are aware by now. Mahesh Dixit, IPS, originally Andhra Pradesh Cadre officer of the 1993 batch. Dixit joined the Intelligence Bureau early in his career as one of the specially handpicked officers for intelligence work. As a practice, a certain number of officers from a particular batch get earmarked for the IB. Most of them stay put although at a later stage in their careers some of these are known to have gone back to their original cadres for various reasons.
Dixit, a qualified medical doctor, originally from Nashik in Maharashtra, studied medicine at Pune's BJ Medical College before joining the IPS. Has operated in the field in Jammu and Kashmir and Nagaland, among other postings. He had a long stint in J&K post August 5, 2019 when Article 370 was abrogated. Has specialised in CT (counter-terror) Ops and is known to have worked with his current boss, Tapan Deka who superannuates on 30 June after a four year term, closely.

My heart goes out to the people of #ArunachalPradesh during this difficult time. Having spent 3 years serving in the state, it is heartbreaking to see the devastation in Keyi Panyor & Papum Pare. Keeping everyone in my thoughts & prayers, and wishing them safety & strength 🙏
Deeply saddened by the loss of lives & the devastation caused by the floods & landslides in Keyi Panyor District in Arunachal Pradesh. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families & prayers for the speedy recovery of those injured.
The safety & well-being of our people remain our highest priority. Rescue, relief & restoration efforts are underway & every possible assistance is being extended to those affected. We stand firmly with every affected family in this difficult hour.
Five people have been reported missing after a flash flood hit the 43 NEEPCO Colony, near 405 MW Panyor hydroelectric plant. The Head of Project, NEEPCO has informed that 17 persons have sustained injuries, including three in critical condition. The critically injured patients have been evacuated to Ziro by ambulance; however, due to a road blockage at Pitapool, they were manually carried across the affected stretch before being transported further for medical care.
