Big deal, imagine this for a moment. What if you could do a 5000 year loan? The payment would be so low, no one would even care about true ownership. Same goes for 30 vs 50. Who cares if its 30 a 1% interest if you can't make the payment. In the end, you need a balance that allows you to live in the home for NOW. 50 years gives you more time to re-finance when interest rates are low. If you go to refinance in 15 years, fine.. re-finance for 50 years and you've just got a 30 year total loan. People should be EXCITED about this.. not upset.
