@HonMachakaire@ZANUPF_Official
Hon. Tinoda Machakaire you completely lost on youth policy, and hereโs why:
1๏ธโฃ False dilemma โ Suggesting a National Youth Service certificate matters more than a university degree undermines education and devalues merit. A nation cannot punish its own students for pursuing academics.
2๏ธโฃ Coercion disguised as opportunity โ When jobs depend on NYS participation, it stops being empowerment and becomes compulsion. Youth development should expand choices, not narrow them.
3๏ธโฃ Ideology over employability โ Employers hire for skills, productivity, and innovation โ not political orientation. Mixing โideologyโ with workforce entry risks politicizing livelihoods.
4๏ธโฃ Policy failure deflection โ High unemployment is not caused by graduates lacking NYS certificates; it is caused by economic mismanagement, weak industry growth, and lack of investment.
5๏ธโฃ Dangerous precedent โ Creating parallel requirements outside formal education erodes institutions and breeds patronage, favoritism, and exclusion.
Zimbabwean youth donโt need indoctrination pathways โ they need a functioning economy, fair opportunity, and respect for their qualifications.
Hon. Tinoda Machakaire you are completely lost on youth policy, and itโs time someone says it plainly โ respect the citizens you serve.
1๏ธโฃ Citizens are not subjects โ Young people are not tools to be processed through a state program before they can earn a living. Employment is a right tied to competence, not political conditioning.
2๏ธโฃ Education must never be downgraded โ Families sacrifice everything to send children to university. To imply that a certificate from NYS outweighs years of academic effort is disrespectful to students, parents, and educators.
3๏ธโฃ Opportunity should not require loyalty tests โ Linking jobs to NYS participation creates the perception that access to livelihoods depends on ideological alignment. That is unfair, exclusionary, and dangerous.
4๏ธโฃ Government must fix the economy, not the youth โ The crisis is unemployment, not graduates. Youth are already qualified, talented, and willing to work. Whatโs missing is an enabling environment: investment, industry growth, and policy consistency.
5๏ธโฃ Freedom of choice matters โ True empowerment means providing multiple pathways: entrepreneurship support, apprenticeships, vocational training, and formal employment โ not a single mandatory route presented as salvation.
6๏ธโฃ Respect means listening โ Instead of threatening that young people will โsufferโ without NYS, leadership should engage them, understand their realities, and create policies that expand dignity and independence.
Hon Minister, the youth of Zimbabwe do not need warnings โ they need respect, jobs, and a government that treats them as partners in national development, not recruits in a program.
