"And thus the native hue of resolution
Is sicklied o'er with the pale cast of thought,
And enterprises of great pith and moment
With this regard their currents turn awry, and lose the name of action."

Diary Post: When I first started playing Fighting Games 25+ years ago, I picked the character I thought was the coolest and never looked back. There was almost this feeling of working together; I wanted to show off how cool the character was, and I wanted to show what I could do with them. This motivated me to grind and kept me invested.
Somewhere along the way (*cough* CS1 Makoto), I lost sight of this and started picking whoever was strong and easy. Instead of working together, things felt like I was just piloting a tool to get a job done. While this got me lots of easy wins, it also led me to lose interest quickly and begin constantly hopping between characters and games.
I don’t remember the last time I felt as excited for a character as I do for Kenshiro. He could drop as the worst character in the game and I’m still going to main him for the rest of COTW’s life. I’m not deluding myself and trying to get to GO1 level, but I am excited to actually try at a Fighting Game again.
Now I just need Nanaya and Siete…
