This is apt, very correct 💯✅.
IBEDC @IBEDC_NG is worst amongst all.....the company is supplying nothing as electricity but always come with cr*zy bills for their unmetered customers.
@officialABAT President sir, kindly retrieve our national assets from all of them
OPEN LETTER TO MR PRESIDENT: START THE DANCE ON ELECTRICITY. THE PRIVATIZATION FAILED. THE OWNERS ARE BILLING DARKNESS.
Your Excellency,
I write not to insult anybody. I write to end a national pretence.
In April this year, our own regulator, NERC, published the figures. Of 13,625 megawatts of installed generation capacity, only 4,286 megawatts were available for dispatch. Thirty-one per cent. Ten plants out of twenty-eight produced eighty-one per cent of everything the country generated.
Six days ago, on Saturday 22 August, the grid fell to 1,132 megawatts at half past eight in the evening, down from above 4,000 megawatts the same afternoon. Twelve stations were producing nothing at all. Egbin. Geregu. Kainji. Shiroro. Zungeru. Nobody has explained why. Nobody ever does.
That is not an industry, Your Excellency. That is a rumour of an industry.
Let us name the original sin.
The 2013 privatisation was not a reform. It was a transfer of custody.
The men and women who bought the GenCos and the DisCos had enough money to purchase the assets. They did not have enough money to run them. Owning a power station and capitalising a power station are two different economic acts, and we confused them.
So let me say the thing everybody in Abuja knows and nobody will put in writing: by the standard of what this industry actually requires, the people who bought Nigeria’s electricity assets are poor. Not poor as men, but poor as utilities. A serious distribution company in a country of 240 million people needs a balance sheet measured in billions of dollars, not billions of naira. They do not have it. They never had it. They were never going to have it.
We should have sold these assets to first-class multinational operators with global brands, technical depth and the capacity to sink billions of dollars into the network before earning a kobo back. Instead we handed a national utility to a consortium of gentlemen with bank loans.
What did we get? We got PHCN, with debt.

Doxology
I have today signed the NIMC Act 2026 into law.
For nearly twenty years, Nigeria’s identity system operated under a law written for a different era. That era is over.
This new Act gives our nation a modern, secure and digital identity framework fit for the Nigeria we are building, a Nigeria on the path to becoming a one-trillion-dollar economy.
To God be all the glory for the gift of life and yet another birthday anniversary.
I celebrate you and i pray God gives you divine health, strength, joy and peace as you take Nigeria to her Eldorado of great wealth and opportunities.
Akanbi, omo olodo ide.
I love you and I am so proud of you.

In 2025, from individual champions in athletics and other sports, to our winning female football and basketball teams as well as the Super Eagles who despite their bronze medal at AFCON2025, captured our hearts, scores of athletes representing Nigeria made our nation proud.
Sports is one of our strongest brands as a nation. It unifies us, breaks all our fault lines, inspires belief, and builds a sense of community that cuts across age, language, ethnicity, religion, and social status.
Over the past year, Nigerian athletes in various disciplines carried our flag with courage and pride across Africa and the world with Nigeria cumulatively winning an unprecedented 373 medals across all sports in 2025. From grassroots competitions to continental and global stages, the evidence is clear that when talent is supported with structure and preparation, Nigeria delivers.
I commend the National Sports Commission for the progress and successes inspite of the challenges. I salute the leadership of the NSC under the chairmanship of Malam Shehu Dikko for driving the reform agenda towards the resetting, refocusing, and relaunching of the sports sector in alignment with the renewed hope agenda and shared prosperity vission of my administration.
Yet we must be honest. For too long, sports funding was slowed by bureaucracy, fragmented across institutions, and when funds are released, they come too late to support proper preparation and even participation. Likewise, no meaningful investment is made towards sports infrastructure development and maintenance that meets international benchmarks. That cycle undermined performance and placed our athletes at a disadvantage. This must change.
I have therefore approved and directed the relevant ministries of Finance, Budget and Economic Planning and the Budget Office of the Federation for the resetting of sports funding to ensure that henceforth as from the 2026 fiscal year adequate provisions for sporting Infrastructure development, maintenance, sporting activities, programs, events and participation in international competitions are made annually in the national budget, and that all Funds so appropriated are released immediately once the budget is passed and assented to. Nigerian athletes deserve certainty, not excuses.
In addition, allocations for sporting activities currently spread across MDAs will be reviewed, restructured and streamlined, with the savings transferred into a unified funding framework under the National Sports Commission to strengthen domestic programs and international sports participation.
These reforms are anchored on the Renewed Hope Initiative for Nigeria’s Sports Economy, RHINSE, which positions sports as a driver for job creation, tourism, investment, and global influence. In addition, through scientific elite athlete development, active grassroots participation, revitalised federations, and the hosting of major international events at home, we are building a sports ecosystem that works.
Indeed, sports is our national asset and thus must be administered, managed, and funded in alignment with its special nature and demands devoid of any bureaucratic bottlenecks.
The future of Nigerian sports will be planned, properly funded, and competitive. We will support our athletes early, prepare them thoroughly, and celebrate them proudly.
Nigeria will continue to win, with pride.

Baba, is looking for ways to solve problems of Nigerians, putting in different and strategic measures everywhere while some are striving on how to hijack power from a working president @officialABAT . God no go gry for una
Today, I met with the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq @RealAARahman, to be debriefed on the incident in Kaiama LGA.
I condemn in the strongest terms this cowardly and beastly attack. The gunmen are heartless for choosing soft targets in their doomed campaign of terror. Their actions offend our humanity, our faith, and our shared values as a nation.
Yesterday, I directed the immediate deployment of an army battalion to Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State following the horrific attack on innocent villagers in Worro. This new military command will spearhead Operation Savannah Shield to checkmate these barbaric terrorists and protect defenceless communities.
It is particularly disturbing that the victims were killed because they rejected an attempt at forced indoctrination. As I said, “It is commendable that the community members, even though Muslims, refused to be conscripted into a weird belief that promoted violence over peace and dialogue.” Nigeria will never surrender its people to extremism and terrorism masquerading as faith.
I have further directed close collaboration between federal and state agencies to provide immediate support and relief to the affected community and to ensure that those responsible for this atrocity are pursued and brought to justice, just like other terrorists before them. They will not go scot-free.
I pray for the repose of the souls of the departed and extend my deepest condolences to the families who have lost loved ones. I also sympathise with the people and government of Kwara State. The Federal Government stands with you. We will protect our communities, defend our values, and defeat those who seek to divide us through terror.

Tinubunomics is making things better in Nigeria.
Barely a month ago, flights to Owerri from Lagos were ₦500,000 for a one-way ticket. Things got so bad that a Senator complained during a plenary session. Today, that same Lagos-Owerri route is just ₦102,000. Please fact-check me. You can even take a look at the attached screenshot from Air Peace.
When the price was exorbitant, Nigerians condemned President Tinubu. Now that the price has dropped, Nigerians have forgotten to commend the President.
But why did the price reduce? Yes, demand has dropped. But that is only part of the reason. The strengthening of the Naira to a two-year high of ₦1386 to $1, and the availability and affordability of jet fuel, played a large role.
Things are getting better in Nigeria under Tinubu. For example, a basket of tomatoes that used to sell for ₦10,000 is now ₦3500. The price of a 50kg bag of rice has crashed, leaving traders who hoarded it incurring heavy losses.
And it is not just the common man who is feeling the breath of fresh air from Tinubu.
On Monday, January 5, 2026, the total market capitalisation of the Nigerian Stock Exchange hit and crossed the ₦100 trillion mark for the first time ever, and ended the day at ₦101.807 trillion.
In dollar terms, our capital market is now worth a whopping $67.8 billion!
And that is why The Economist Magazine reported last week that Nigeria's "golden years" are likely to return under Tinubu, and the IMF listed Nigeria as the sixth-largest contributor to the rise in global GDP in 2025.
Things are so good in the economy that Peter Obi cannot find anything tangible to criticise, and has been reduced to attacking the President for travelling too much.
But as long as the President's travels are bringing foreign investment into the country, improving our balance of trade position, and rapidly reducing inflation, thereby increasing the purchasing power of the Naira, let him keep travelling while Peter Obi and the ADC keep unravelling.
