Working around the clock to deliver assistance
As desperate search and rescue efforts continue through the rubble of the devastating earthquakes in Venezuela, LWF is scaling up its response to cover the most immediate critical needs.
Many of the affected people are living outdoors, on the streets, in makeshift shelters and lacking the most basic needs. It is urgent to ensure people have secure sources of daily food needs, and dignified shelter and non-food items. It is also critical to restore access to safe water, ensure sanitation and hygiene, provide mental health and psychosocial support, protection, and access to health services.
“We are responding promptly and efficiently,” Amanda Saraith Hernandez Granados, Protection and Gender Officer, LWF Venezuela and Colombia program, says in this video message.
The LWF has conducted an assessment in some of worst hit areas: Junquito, Los Palos Grandes, and Parque del Este in order to align its response to the needs of the affected populations there. Working in collaboration with other international and local partners, LWF will prioritize assistance to women, children, older persons, and persons with disabilities.

Together We Pray
“Across generations and cultures, women’s voices in prayer have carried the cries of communities, the burdens of families, the longing for justice and peace, and also the celebrations of daily life, achievements, gratitude, and blessings,” said LWF General Secretary Rev. Dr Anne Burghardt at the launch of a new women’s prayer book.

God of all goodness, in our baptism,
we hear the promise of an advocate,
your Spirit that will accompany us in this life.
By this gift,
grant us the grace to know you,
and your love abiding in us,
through Jesus Christ our Lord,
who lives and reigns with you
and the Holy Spirit, one God,
forever and ever. Amen.

we rejoice for the many ways
that you reveal your presence
as we journey together through
this Easter season.
Stay with us, open our eyes
to the paths that lead to new life,
and inspire our hearts
to faithfully follow you,
Jesus Christ our Lord,
who lives and reigns
with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever.
