What we are witnessing is more than flooding, it is a humanitarian crisis affecting thousands of families who have lost their homes, livelihoods, security, and hope for a stable future. Children’s education has been disrupted, businesses destroyed, and many residents remain displaced with no clear long-term solution.

This tragedy highlights the urgent need for responsible urban planning, environmental protection, disaster preparedness, and stronger enforcement of settlement regulations. It is a reminder that sustainable development and proactive leadership can no longer be ignored.

The people of Kihoto deserve more than promises and temporary interventions. They deserve dignity, protection, proper resettlement, and practical long-term solutions that will help them rebuild their lives.

Now is the time for county and national leaders to act with urgency, unity, and accountability before more lives are affected.
