This week marked the start of our engagements with Nigeria’s lending ecosystem. The financial institutions (deposit money banks, microfinance, fintechs, cooperatives) are critical partners on our mission at @CrediCorpNG. At our first session - with the 19 commercial banks, convened by the CBN - we shared our audacious mission at CREDICORP and our unique offering of wholesale capital and credit guarantees, for lenders committed to accelerating consumer credit access to Nigerians at scale. We also received important feedback to enable us fine-tune our rollouts of financial products.

Special thanks to the Central Bank of Nigeria for this convening, held in Lagos, with the Chief Risk Officers and leaders of consumer lending across the banks.

I started this week as the MD/CEO of the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP). I would like to thank His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) for entrusting me with this assignment.

To accelerate access to responsible consumer credit is to power the dreams of millions of hardworking Nigerians. It is to recognise that our incomes should unlock much better lives and financial security. It is also to grow industries as we buy more. And there is no better time than now to achieve this, through collaboration and innovation.

Stepping into this office fills me with a profound sense of responsibility. We are ready for the task ahead, and committed to working together with all partners on this journey.
