BREAKING: An atomic bomb hits the Republican Party as Oregon's highest court rules that 9 Republican state senators will NOT be allowed to run for another term due to their stunning misbehavior.

This is a staggering defeat for the party of MAGA...

The Republicans who have been banned from serving another term are state senators who staged a weeks-long walkout to protest the policy agenda of the state's Democratic majority. An independent state senator who joined with the Republicans has also been banned.

The lawmakers in question were angered by Democrat-sponsored bills covering gun reform and reproductive rights and chose to articulate their displeasure in the most childlike way imaginable.

The Republicans were hoping that by walking out they could deny the Democrats quorum — a cheap trick which has now backfired in spectacular fashion.

This new ruling is rooted in a statewide ballot initiative that passed in 2022 that says any state legislator who misses ten floor sessions without permission/excuse will be banned from serving a subsequent term.

"Reading the text of the amendment in light of the ballot title and the voters’ pamphlet, voters would have understood the disqualification to apply to the term of office immediately following the term in which a legislator accrued 10 or more unexcused absences,” the court stated. "Thus, for the reasons that follow, we conclude that voters intended that result and reject petitioners’ challenge to the (Secretary of State’s) rules."

The ruling is the end result of a process started by Oregon Secretary of State LaVonne Griffin-Vallade choosing to hold the Republicans accountable under the law.

"I’ve said from the beginning my intention was to support the will of the voters," said Oregon Secretary of State LaVonne Griffin-Vallade. "It was clear to me that voters intended for legislators with a certain number of absences in a legislative session to be immediately disqualified from seeking reelection. I’m thankful to the Oregon Supreme Court for providing clarity on how to implement Measure 113."

The court's decision was unanimous.
