Huge thanks to @AndyBurnhamGM who joined students from @StAmbroseColl this afternoon to discuss issues surrounding homelessness.
The Q&A session inspired our students and thoughts now turn to how our school community can take positive action.

@Strickomaster What nobody is mentioning is that in many cases it will be because the primary schools finish later than secondary schools, particularly if the primary schools take 2 weeks at Whit. Term dates not aligning will impact on many.
GCSE RESULTS: Well done to pupils from St Ambrose College, where the Attainment 8 score - based on performance across 8 subjects - was 73.53, up from 72.84 last year.
Principal Dermot Rainey said: “The students and staff should be rightly proud of these exceptional results."
Huge congratulations to our Year 11 students who received their GCSE results earlier today.
Your hard work and commitment to your studies has led to today. We are so proud of your achievements.

Wishing all students across the country the very best for tomorrow's GCSE results. Welcoming St Ambrose students from 8:30am via the lecture theatre entrance. We're looking forward to seeing you all.
@UnchainedHt @Strickomaster I would say there are things that are reasonable & fair e.g. an issue on a trip or exam board query necessary for results days, but we shouldn't be expected to be contactable for anything & everything. There are serious legal considerations here if that is the expectation.
@girasoles_lady @Strickomaster This could be partially resolved by schools finishing at the end of June as in other parts of the UK, but there doesn't seem to be huge appetite for a wider conversation around term dates.
Congratulations to our Year 13 students who are celebrating their A level results today 🎉
We are incredibly proud of you all.

A LEVEL RESULTS: 40% of the total grades achieved by pupils at St Ambrose College in Hale Barns were A* or A, up 10% on 2023.

@StAmbroseColl
In total, 28 students achieved A*/A across all their A-level subjects, with five students achieving a place to study medicine.
Principal Dermot Rainey said: “It has been a really positive morning seeing so many smiles and elated students.”
1/2 I tend to avoid the EduTwitter 'discussions' or any public comment on some controversial issues but I've been fairly vocal on term dates frustrations. I'm at a point now where I don't see any reason for English schools being open in July. Finish in June as happens in NI.
Wishing all our Ambrosian community a happy and restful summer.
Key dates:
A level results - 15/8/24
GCSE results - 22/8/24
Y7/12 return to school - 4/9/24
Y8/9/10/11/13 return to school - 5/9/24

End of term message was 'Go to the well, wherever your well may be'. My well is a particular type of well; The Brandywell, Derry City. Couldn't be happier to have made it in time.
Big thanks to @StAmbroseColl staff, students & families who donated clothing and toiletries to @AsylumLink and to Ann Nichols for collecting them, following our performance of Real People. Donations are still being collected it's never too late! #togetherwithrefugees
An amazing day and thankfully the weather held. Huge thanks to Miss McCrory and all who helped organise. I'm sure my legs will feel fine in the morning.
Great weather today for our annual sponsored walk. We are raising money so that our sister school (St Ambrose Academy) can build more classrooms. Well done to all students for your efforts with fundraising this term! #compassionforthoseinneed
