Honestly, there shouldn't have been a way back for Jack and he should've just stayed in the future and made the world better from that point forward instead of going back in time to do the Gurren Lagan ending and imply that causality made every one of his friends be unborn or fundamentally change to the point of not being the same people

There's been tennis, volleyball, T ball, hybrid sport events like "hooverball," basketball, bowling, putting, indoor swimming (mostly used for therapeutic purposes, but still), horseshoe, several children's entertainment events like Easter events and picnics, and even full contact boxing events participated in by the fucking president himself all held at the White House or on the very same lawn as the UFC event all just since the very early 1900s
A lot of those don't exactly rise to what one imagines as a "sporting event" and were personal facilities used by certain presidents, but this is still nothing new except the exact scale of the event and how much you've been told to hate it
