Dear Gov @_PastorUmoEno,
Ikot Edong Health Centre, Abak LGA, Akwa Ibom state has been in a dire state for over 10years.
This facility is the only public health facility serving the entire Ikot Edong and there are no functional toilets, no electricity, and no water source. The building is dilapidated, with cracked walls that threaten to collapse and a roof that leaks during rainfall.
This facility is not at all suitable for healthcare delivery. Despite receiving medical equipment through the BHPH, it remains unused due to the lack of a proper facility.
We implore your office and the @NphcdaNG , the @Fmohnigeria to facilitate the reconstruction of this facility.

N50m was reportedly spent on the Construction of The Magistrate Court and High Court at Erho, Abraka, Delta state in the 2024 Delta state Budget Implementation Report.
We visited this facility and saw that nothing was done. No new construction or renovation of the existing facility.
We met with the court officials from both courts and they asserted that they have not heard of the project and nothing of such was done.
The magistrate also told us that the current benches at the court were provided by the community.
The roofs of some parts of the court are pulling off and the entire compound has been overgrown by bushes.
We call on the office of Gov @RtHonSheriff, @officialEFCC, and the @icpcnigeria to look into this discrepancy and provide the public with details of this project.

Africa owes $1.83 trillion, with debt servicing consuming about 18% of government revenues, while borrowing costs continue to climb.
Every dollar going to creditors is a dollar not going to schools, hospitals, or roads. That weight shows up in budgets, in businesses, and in the everyday lives of people across the continent.
Our Global Director @seunonigbinde will be joining a panel of experts to dig into what is really driving Africa's rising debt burden, what it costs the continent, and what better borrowing can actually look like.

In 2024, only 21 of Nigeria’s 36 states reported any local government internally generated revenue (IGR). According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), no figures were captured for the remaining 15.
Those 21 states accounted for N39.40 billion in total, with Bauchi on top at N7.50 billion and Imo at the bottom with just N72.15 million.
Lagos, which led the year before with N10.49 billion, did not appear on the 2024 list at all.
Local governments were granted financial autonomy in 2024. But if states still cannot account for what their councils generated under the old system, the harder question is whether autonomy will be any more transparent than what it replaced.

“I don’t understand it so it doesn’t affect me”__ Careless Nigerian, 2026
Before infrastructure is even provided for, a huge chunk of the country’s revenue is spent on debt servicing and loan repayments.
In this explainer, we break down what that means, why it matters, and how it affects everything from public infrastructure to citizens everyday lives.
Because understanding the budget is the first step to asking the right questions.
You’re welcome 😇

Nigeria belongs to us all, and some people are doing more than saying it. They show up, ask the hard questions, and keep pushing for better even when no one is clapping for them.
This award is for those who speak up, who do not back down until things change, and who keep showing up.
If someone comes to mind, nominate them at https://t.co/F81AQhCyQF

🗣️“When we say check your state budget, this is exactly what we are talking about.”
In 2020, we visited Government Day Secondary School, Diko, Gurara LGA, Niger State, and found the school in a completely dysfunctional and dilapidated state. Meanwhile, this is the only government secondary school serving about 14 different communities, yet students are forced to learn in terrible conditions.
Classrooms have no doors or windows, roofs are collapsing, ceilings ripped off, and many students sit on bare floors during lessons. Even more concerning, the schools lack perimeter fencing, exposing students and staff to serious security threats at a time insecurity remains a major national concern.
In 2025, the school appeared in the Niger State Budget with N457.6m allocated for renovation. According to her 2025 fourth quarter Budget Implementation Report, N400m i.e. 87.4% of the funds has already been disbursed.
But the shocking reality is that there is absolutely no evidence of project execution on ground. No contractor. No ongoing work. No rehabilitation. Nothing.
We visited both the senior secondary school and the relocated junior secondary section over 3km away, and the conditions remain the same, abandoned, unsafe, and neglected.
🧐 How can N400m be reportedly spent while children continue learning in collapsing classrooms without furniture or security?
🧐 Who received the funds?
🧐 Who certified the project performance?
🧐 Where exactly was the money spent?
Sadly, this is gradually becoming a disturbing trend across several states. Despite increasing allocations and rising public revenues, citizens continue to see little or no corresponding development in critical sectors like education, healthcare, and infrastructure.
We call on the @officialEFCC and @icpcnigeria to urgently investigate this matter and ensure accountability for public funds meant for education development.
Nigeria should not continue budgeting for progress while communities remain trapped in neglect. We must do better.

499% increase, that’s how much Nigeria’s foreign direct investment (FDI) has grown since Q3 2023.
It moved from $57.77m in Q3 2023 to $357.80m by Q4 2025.
The lowest point came in Q2 2024 at $29.83m. By Q4 2024, it rose to $421.88m, a 1,314% increase within two quarters.
FDI didn’t move the same way every quarter. It rose and slowed at different points, but what matters is how much of these investments translate into real impact for the everyday Nigerian.

🗣️ Dear Nigerians,
Nigeria pulled in a record $23.22bn in foreign capital inflow in 2025, and on the surface, that sounds like very good news.
But there’s more to the story.
For every $1 that came into Nigeria as long-term investment that can build factories, businesses, infrastructure, and jobs, $21 came in as short-term financial flows like stocks, bonds, and treasury bills.
In simple terms, most of the money entering the country is quick money.
Money that can come in today and leave tomorrow.
The numbers may be big, but long-term growth needs investment that stays, builds, creates jobs, and improves people’s lives.

Abandoned GOPD Complex at FMC Hong🪫
From 2023 to 2026, a total of N96.6m was paid to BASEWATCH CONCEPT NIG LIMITED for the Construction of GOPD Complex FMC, Hong LGA, Adamawa state.
In the 2024 budget, 100m was allocated to this project and in the 2025 budget, another N284m was allocated.
We tracked and report that a storey building has been constructed and painted with water, electrical conduits, and waste disposal pipes installed.
However this facility has been abandoned since 2024 with no active construction since then.
