@tennisabstract There was a rain delay at 18-17, and I suppose one of the Mexicans had somewhere to be the next day - I doubt either expected to be alive in the tournament by Friday.
@TennisBlogger1 Managed to get in touch with someone on site but can’t get a further update so far :/ They’ve already inputted the Wolff score on tbe ITF page, so it makes me think that the Bara match was also suspended at some point after 3-1.
Altug Celikbilek suffered a brain hemmorhage during his match in Tunisia and is being transferred back to Turkey for surgery. 😮 Sounds scary as hell, hopefully he has a full and rapid recovery.
Milli tenisçi Altuğ Çelikbilek, Tunus'ta oynadığı bir maç sırasında beyin kanaması geçirdi. 28 yaşındaki sporcu sabah yapılacak kontrollerin ardından Türkiye’ye getirilerek ameliyata alınacak.
Imagine if these people cared 10% as much about the real and proven ways players gain advantages as they do about doping allegations... and hating on Iga for using her status and finances to protect her career, I mean what the actual heck? The problem lies in the system, not her.
@IamPrisacariuA Please don’t make it worse and jeopardize upcoming ITFs for UTR matches without ranking points… We want to see you healthy and in grand slams next year!
@Tennisform Not just these random websites, but Paddy Power, Betfair, all of them had the same wrong odds. Insane luck for the bookies that they mispriced Trush who happened to show up injured, and was convinced by the referee and supervisor not to retire.
The doubles tour at 125/250 level is a complete joke. 8 average singles players bashing away without a faintest clue how to construct a doubles point. I'd say it's a horrible look for the WTA, but then again, does anyone except their friends and gamblers even watch these matches?
Leslie has a CHR of #607 in 2000, but back then anyone could enter WTAs if there were empty spots and she managed to get a ret. win at WTA Stanford qualies. She’s hardly ever been competitive otherwise and her (equally talentless) daughter seems to be following in her footsteps.
Leslie is 52, Madison is 17 and they always play doubles together, so I’m guessing this might be the first ever professional match between mother and daughter.
Honestly, the most fun part about these doping cases used to be the creative excuses lawyers came up with, but Errani (mother cooking tortellini) and Yastremska (allegedly swallowing her boyfriend’s sperm ☠️) set the bar so high that I have no interest in this Sinner case.
The faster surface this year has done wonders for the women's qualifying event. Just in the last hour, the ending of Parrizas-Avdeeva and now the battle between Masarova-Jones have been some of the highest quality hitting I've seen in a while.
What a match, my God. 🥵 Kostyuk’s inability (or refusal?) to hit any second serve to Vekic’s backhand really cost her the match in that tiebreak. Donna’s FH is probably the best among active players right now, the confidence she has in it is just insane.
Wouldn’t it be cool if tennis were to adopt the repechage system at the Olympics? So many players leaving their hearts out there but getting brutal draws, would love to see them have another go at a medal.
Erin Routliffe is honestly one of the worst players I've ever watched. If she can make a WTA career in doubles, that means literally anybody in the singles top 750 could do the same.
I really hope Rakhimova/Dzalamidze can pull off the comeback.
