Germany came out of WWII with the determination to never make the same mistakes again. While their history will forever be stained by the horrors of the Holocaust, there is arguably no better nation to prevent it from happening again.

This is why the German government is so harsh in its laws about Holocaust denial.

It's also why the German government is coming forward to defend Israel against accusations of genocide at the IJC. Their spokesman said, “The accusation has no basis in fact,” and warned that the German government will not allow the misuse of the (UN) Genocide Convention for "political instrumentalization."
