Robert Higgs's ratchet: government expands massively during war, then partially retracts, but never to where it started. Each crisis leaves behind new agencies, new precedents, new taxes, and a new baseline. The next crisis starts from higher ground. #MisesU
OTD 2020: The @mcpnews pre-dawn, no-knock raid killing of Duncan Lemp confirms the old saying: Just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean they aren’t out to get you. The coverup continues. https://t.co/3BbgiKz5ll
OTD 2020:: Montgomery Co., MD SWAT team killed 21-year-old Duncan Lemp, shooting him 5 times in his bedroom in a predawn raid based on false firearm allegations and BS from confidential informants. A federal judge last year granted "qualified immunity" - i.e., total immunity - to some of the police officers involved in this killing.
One year ago, I warned: "Trump is one of a long series of commanders-in-chief who expanded & exploited the dictatorial potential of the presidency. Trump’s occasional pro-liberty rhetoric provides no assurance against abuses of power that could lead to a constitutional Waterloo."
I can't believe those crazy Iranians made Ayatollah Khamenei's son the Supreme Leader.
Don't they read the Wall Street Journal?
Don't they know the Trump administration preferred the grandson of Ayatollah Khomeini instead?

Trump called out for lying about mass murdering little girls to his face.
"I just don't know enough about it," that's why I lied and claimed Iran bombed their own school, he replied.
The only difference between a cartel and the government is belief in their authority. A cartel operates outside the law, a government defines it. And if you’re the one writing the law, nothing you do is illegal.
It’s not just that Trump is ignorant about basic economics and repeatedly lied about who pays tariffs.
It’s that he decided his position was more important than the American republic—that his agenda justified usurping Congress’s power to tax and robbing millions of Americans.
@wbuppert@mnhouseDFL “The police are the standing army the Anti-Federalists warned us about.” @wbuppert
These are the times we really need Old Bill back
"The tariff monopoly... consists in fostering production at high prices and under unfavorable conditions by visiting with the penalty of taxation those who patronize production at low prices and under favorable conditions." - Benjamin Tucker
Trump upped the ante in his raging press conference today, announcing that ""I can destroy the [foreign] country" - even if he cannot hit them with tariffs.
