It’s been 512 days and today I got to hug my fiancé at start and end of visit, and hold his hands throughout. I ran into the visit hall crying. It’s moments like this that most people take for granted but mean the world to us prison families ❤️

@PrisonR4rmAct During my 2018 visit to @OfficialBerwyn I was informed by the then Governing Governor the cost per head was £14,000. Afterwards, I contacted Berwyn to confirm it & was told £13,500 per head.
How on earth has the cost increased so much & the standards dropped so low? @MoJGovUK

My 82yo dad, who served his country and worked all his life has to pay £180pm for gas & electricity.

He won’t put the heating on. Just sits with a blanket over his lap to keep warm.

Yet we spend millions on housing migrants in hotels. It’s just morally indefensible.

First you reduce visit hours; ENHANCED is now 5 hours a month down from 8? WHY? Then you cancel todays visit, no notification..to clean the carpets?! No contact throughout visits except start and end? Maintaining family ties? @OfficialBerwyn @_Imbs_ @InsideTimeUK @HMIPrisonsnews

I thought @OfficialBerwyn was the future of the modern prison system?! Maybe if you spent time on maintaining family ties there wouldn’t be so many inappropriate staff/prisoner relationships in there, when the men can’t see their families! 18 females sacked since 2017!

Prisons should update there phone systems so u can ring them 😩 sometimes when I feel shit or missing him I just want to pick the phone up and hear his voice .. having to wait for him to ring just makes it harder

I visited “Pops” in the prison infirmary, who is suffering from dementia after 36 yrs of incarceration. He just lay there, his blue eyes staring at the ceiling. I wondered if he knew he was still in prison, or if his mind allowed him to be free?

Let’s be honest: Brexit isn’t working.

British exporters are struggling, our living standards are falling and the UK is now the only G7 country with a smaller economy than before the pandemic.

Unless we face up to the harm Brexit is causing we can't start to address it.

Anyone recommend a prison law solicitor? My partner has done EVERYTHING on his SP and more. Enhanced, adjudication free for 2 years, red band and gym orderly. But refused cat d sift due to a police investigation that’s been ongoing since 2019. Trial is august 2023! #hmp #prison

I thought our judicial system was innocent until proven guilty? His OM said she would recommend him but the police liaison said there’s an outstanding investigation and therefore sift was refused. Why can’t his progression continue until the case concludes?
