"Every tonne of CO2 takes 400,000 years to be removed from the atmosphere"
And Humans pump roughly 40 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere every year
That is about 50 times the weight of all the cars in the world
We are virtually burning the planet down
@volcaholic1 I'm pretty sure "Carbon footprint" was invented by big Oil, so that we look at individuell action (and blame each other) and not push our government for systematic changes.

A simple(ton's) guide to understanding climate change and wildfires:
Yes, the Biscarrosse wildfire was started by a van that caught fire. The flames spread to roadside vegetation before moving into the forest. That is a fact.
What isn't true is the claim that this means climate change had nothing to do with it.
Climate change didn't set the van on fire. It helped create the conditions that allowed a single vehicle fire to become a major wildfire.
France is suffocating under intense, recurring heatwave conditions. The Landes de Gascogne forest has been turned into a tinderbox, where a single ignition source was all it took for disaster to unfold. The flames spread rapidly, burning thousands of hectares and forcing thousands of people to flee.
The van was the spark. The heat and dry conditions were the fuel. Hotter, drier landscapes mean fires spread faster, burn harder and become far more destructive.
Stop staring at the match and start looking at why it was able to become such a disaster.
Using total global burned area to claim wildfires aren’t getting worse is pure scientific illiteracy.
That decline is entirely driven by African grasslands being turned into farms and highways, which stops routine brush fires.
Meanwhile, actual climate-driven forest fires that destroy homes, vaporize ecosystems, and choke entire continents with smoke are skyrocketing in intensity, cost, and toxic emissions.
Stop cherry-picking a single irrelevant metric just to feel comfortable denying reality. It makes you look incredibly gullible.

Having existed for millions of years on Earth
Trump hands them a death sentence to eliminate them forever on this Earth and all to boost the profits of his fossil fuel billionaire buddies
@ECOWARRIORSS This is a total madness, all this low earth satellites are up there for a few years then burn up in the atmosphere and poisoning us (and all life on earth) with metal vapor.
And bringing sunlight on demand will wreak animal and plant life.
icymi: boreal forests are being clearcut faster than wildlife and plant species can recover with some at risk of being completely obliterated from the landscape
@ECOWARRIORSS Sadly they rolled out new regulation this year and it way more expensive if you go over 800W or want a battery storage because you now need an electrician and even a license in some cases to install them. Really stupid :(

The real question isn't whether everyone should have air conditioning. It's why we're still accepting the choices offered by those overseeing ecological collapse.

Sea surface temps around #Europe are way above normal. Marine life is highly sensitive to sudden temp changes, and prolonged marine heatwaves can trigger mass die-offs, habitat loss and ecosystem disruption. The #heatwave crisis isn't just on land...it's beneath the waves also.
