Halfway through our expedition & an Antarctic ice blizzard (-30°C winds at 200kmph). So far, a metaphorical icebreaker for 80 #WomenInSTEMM: the wealth of knowledge shared is just the tip of the iceberg, it is time to discover the depths and come together for global impact.

@_AdilHussain It formed over a thousand years probably. It is indeed heartbreaking to see such a huge chunk floating in the sea, as the ice shelf is melting at a fast rate due to the #ClimateCrisis

Basically it is ice that formed under tremendous pressure from the weight of the Antarctic ice shelf, expelling all air bubbles.

It is black because it's simply reflecting the sea around it, it's that crystalline. Mother nature! ❤️
