Anyway, back to cycling!
The Vuelta a Guatemala is underway, featuring plenty of guest riders competing for teams they're not officially registered with.
Nothing to see here, @UCI_cycling
Just another perfectly normal day in cycling.

@cyclingtakes What PCS currently shows is the confirmed situation: Desal is under contract with the Development Team for 2027
We have not seen an official confirmation that he will move to the WorldTeam in 2027, so we haven't changed the database.
Which is precisely why verification matters.
Just to clarify: all six transfers and four contract extensions were real.
The broader point was simple: don't believe something just because one source says it.
Check, verify, and look for independent confirmation.
That applies far beyond cycling!
Today we ran a little experiment.
We published six transfers and four contract extensions on PCS and watched how quickly they turned into news across international cycling media
No source mentioned. No questions asked
Apparently, if it's on PCS, it must be true π

@BroxbourneSpurs Of course they are.
The experiment wasn't about publishing fake transfers. It was about how quickly journalists publish news without independently verifying it.
@tobydawq Fair criticism, Tobias.
We're undertaking the biggest database overhaul in PCS history. Some features are missing or not working properly, and we're sorry. We'll continue restoring and improving functionality throughout the off-season.
@ravisGG@UCI_cycling We're not the police. The @UCI_cycling makes the rules.
We're just wondering why those rules don't seem to apply equally to everyone.
And yes, let the guys race.
If you live in Etikhove, Belgium π§πͺ, no fewer than 26 races have passed through your village in 2026.
That's more than anywhere else, based on the race routes recorded on PCS!

@daniellloyd1 We published ten genuine transfer updates and watched how quickly they spread across cycling media, without a single outlet we observed citing a source.
We can't know who independently verified them. But that's precisely the question we wanted to raise
A little food for thought
@Antibidon They might have. We can't rule that out.
But here's the interesting part: not a single outlet we observed credited PCS or mentioned any other source.
That's exactly what our experiment was about.
@Sebastiano_M64 Esattamente. Nessuno Γ¨ infallibile, nemmeno noi. Ed Γ¨ proprio per questo che verificare le informazioni Γ¨ fondamentale. Γ esattamente il punto che volevamo sollevare.
@daniellloyd1 The ten riders were never the point. We wanted to highlight how quickly transfer news spreads through cycling media, often without independent verification or attribution.
The reaction to that simple observation has been rather revealing.
@HighLeveel Fair enough
Our transfers were confirmed directly to PCS, just not publicly announced
As for LiveStats, we use race radio, TV and sometimes same volunteers as other media
That's reporting on the same race, not copying someone else's exclusive news
Now we're getting somewhere.
@ClmPncn@FirstCycling@directvelo We're following the same races, using the same race radio, TV footage and sometimes even the same volunteers.
That's quite different from republishing exclusive transfer news without attribution.
But nice attempt to dodge the original point.
@Halbkornbrot2 Which part of βall ten transfers and extensions are genuineβ is so difficult to understand?
We didn't experiment with riders' careers. We observed how journalists handle accurate information. Quite a difference.
@daniellloyd1 They were confirmed directly to us, Daniel. Officially confirmed to PCS doesn't necessarily mean publicly announced.
That's precisely why it's news.
@ClmPncn@FirstCycling Competition is healthy. We welcome it.
But we're talking about journalists publishing news without crediting the original source.
Nice attempt to change the subject, though.
