The 393-year-old Kiyomizu-dera, a temple in Japan, was built without a single nail.
The temple also inspired a famous Japanese saying, “to jump off the stage of Kiyomizu,” which means to make a bold decision. In the past, people really did jump from here. According to temple records, 234 people jumped from the stage between 1694 and 1864. Most of them believed that if they survived, their wish would come true. The youngest was 12, and the oldest was 80. Because the trees and soft ground below broke their fall, 200 of them survived. Kyoto banned the practice in 1872.
The temple sits on 18 pillars made from zelkova trees that were more than 400 years old. The biggest pillar is about 12 meters tall. The pillars aren’t buried in the ground. They sit on stones.
The floor, about 200 square meters, is made of hinoki cypress boards. During a 12-year restoration that finished in 2020, more than 166 of the floorboards were replaced with new ones.
In 2000, about 3,000 zelkova trees were planted around the temple so there will be wood for new pillars in the future.
An Illinois mom was home alone with her infant late at night when paroled burglar Shelby Hurd forced entry into her Joliet home.
She hid the baby in a bedroom closet, armed herself with a handgun, and shot him in the head as he entered the room. Police found Hurd wearing gloves and carrying a screwdriver. He had a history of burglary convictions and had only been released on parole months earlier.
Nice aim.
The woman, who remains anonymous, cooperated with investigators and faces no charges. Police treated it as a justified self-defense shooting.
This is a prime example why we don’t give up our guns.

Here is what is insane about the Ohio Governor race:
Amy Acton is a terrible candidate.
She has no platform. She couldn't debate. She has many weak points, the biggest being COVID policy.
And Vivek is still finding a way to lose to her.
Today I had the pleasure of mowing Ms. Durhams lawn. She wasn’t at home , but when she returns , she will return to a freshly mowed lawn . Making a difference , one lawn at a time .
In Islam, to prove rape, you need 4 male witnesses. And marital rape isn’t rape. Sex slave rape isn’t rape. Child marriage is legal by virtue of which child bride rape is not rape. Because in Islam consent doesn’t exist. You are married off to a man at any age, he owns you and can have sex with you. He doesn’t need consent because you don’t have it to give to begin with. After committing jihad against your people, he took you as a sex slave so he owns you and can have sex with you. He doesn’t need consent because you don’t have it to give to begin with. See the circular reasoning here? In Islam, it’s virtually impossible to prove rape. So no! Rapists don’t get killed. There’s sex outside marriage that is haram and for which you get killed though. That’s a fact. And if someone has “sex” with you outside a legal Islamic marriage whether consensual or not, they would get killed if found out. And thanks to Saudi Arabia, I don’t need to keep explaining that one like I am glitch in the Matrix.
Hearing some rumors that to counter the shocking Lindsay Graham news, Republicans are working on a story that a Democrat senator once drove off a bridge while drunk, killing a girl, and then covered it up for 50 years. No word on which senator, though.
We lost two great actors this year. They were also our Brothers in Arms.
Tom Skerritt (August 25, 1933 – October 21, 2026) enlisted just after graduating from high school, serving a four-year tour of duty in the United States Air Force as a classifications specialist. Most of his enlistment was spent at Bergstrom Field, Austin, Texas.
James Tolkan(June 20, 1931 – March 26, 2026) served briefly in the Navy during the Korean War, completing basic training in San Diego before shipping out to Oakland, Calif., to prepare for duty aboard the Haskell-class attack transport USS Sandoval.

So let’s get this right: the most elite British troops, SAS commandos operating against terrorists, can be placed under criminal investigation for missions undertaken at the behest of their government and for the safety of their country; but actual, known ISIS terrorists can’t be deported from the UK because of their ‘human rights’?
We are literally prosecuting our most elite commandos while protecting known terrorists. It’s terrorists’ rights over British citizens’ rights.
For shame.
