Memo to the media: stop describing what we're seeing as a "fight over" voting rights. It's a fight FOR voting rights. The GOP is against. Democrats are for.
Don't accept the "both sides" BS.
Truly incredible to hear Mitch McConnell accuse Democrats of rigging the rules with HR1 when he stole 2 Supreme Court seats for Trump, blocked 110 Obama judicial nominees & prevented a vote on restoring Voting Rights Act for 7 years
Republicans call the For the People Act a "power grab" because it:
-Establishes Automatic Voter Registration
-Prevents voter purges
-Ends partisan gerrymandering
-Expands early voting
-Takes aim at Citizens United
It is a "power grab" -- grabbing power back for the people.
A short history of corporate tax rates:
Reagan: 34%
Clinton: 35%
Bush: 35%
Obama: 35%
Trump: 21%
Biden's original plan: 28%
Biden's "compromise" plan: 25%
If you can still speak in the media and you’re losing a position due to disapproval from the leaders of a private organization, you’re not canceled. Got it, will remember.
Bipartisanship is not a goal. Goals are raising the minimum wage, securing voting rights, ending police violence, getting universal health care, and saving the planet. If these can’t be done in a bipartisanship way, the hell with bipartisanship.
"Unlike the left, we embrace free thought and debate," McCarthy says in a letter explaining why the party has to purge a member of the leadership team for too much free thought and debate. https://t.co/F30ndfVxoa
55 of the most profitable companies in America paid zero federal income taxes the last three years. And we’re supposed to believe that Corporate America can’t afford to guarantee paid sick leave to their workers?
Before the pandemic, I traveled to one of the largest Confederate cemeteries in the country & spent the day with the Sons of Confederate Veterans to understand how the Lost Cause lives on.

Why should President Biden meet with a lawmaker who refused to certify electoral results declaring Biden the winner and still refuses to recognize the election as legitimate -- Kevin McCarthy?
The weekend’s news underscored it again: for @GOP, the January 6th coup was mere practice. They are already moving to overthrow representative government in 2025 and while Biden and the Democrats have their majorities they must act to cut the NEXT COUP OFF AT ITS KNEES.
Why? To the nation, the @AZGOP already looks like a bunch of strung-out paranoid conspiracy theorist disloyal gun-nut whack jobs. Wasn’t that the idea?
Interesting thread, persuasively argued, on cryptocurrencies. I can’t say whether it’s accurate or not (it’s not in my wheelhouse), but it’s intriguing.
Let's talk about the phenomenon of "mathcoins" and how fancy tech and academic obscurantism is used to defraud the public into buying scam crypto investments. (1/) 🧵
Last week, "Marina" - a piano teacher who publishes free lessons her Piano Keys Youtube channel - celebrated her fifth anniversary by announcing that she was quitting Youtube because her meager wages were being stolen by fraudsters.
