This is a collective movement of criminal justice pro bono lawyers across Kenya coming together to advocate for and network on criminal justice advancements.
The single greatest criminal defence advocate in this country, in my view, is Wandugi Karathe. Yet I bet most have never heard of him. That man inspires me so greatly. The way he flies under the radar and gets the job done, this eloquence and dexterity in court. He's a legend.
Hayawi hayawi huwa!
Esteemed members and colleagues of the Law Society of Kenya, I had the privilege of overseeing the ongoing construction at LSK’s South C property where the team on site confirmed that work is proceeding smoothly and faithfully to plan.
If momentum is maintained, the structure will be completed by 30th January 2026, allowing the Secretariat to relocate to South C and finally clear the path for the groundbreaking of the long-awaited Wakili Towers at our Gitanga Road headquarters.
This journey has demanded patience, trust and collective belief. I sincerely thank the LSK membership for holding the line calmly, critically and responsibly as we moved from aspiration to action. I am deeply fulfilled to be the Vice President of the council that will be transforming this much sold promise to progress. Together, we are not just laying foundations for a building, but for credibility, continuity and confidence in our shared future. Twende Nalo!

A car dealership at the heart of Nairobi’s automotive scene, Top Rides Motors, is now facing serious allegations of fraud after a customer discovered that a fraudulent insurance policy was issued on a fully paid vehicle without their knowledge or consent.
The policy, listed as “business confidential,” has blocked the owner from securing legitimate coverage, leaving the car grounded for days and raising concerns about consumer protection and accountability in the motor trade.
The incident has thrust the motor vehicle retailer, situated along Thika Road and known for the sale of new and used SUVs into the spotlight, with public and regulatory eyes now fixed on how it conducts its operations.
"Hi Nyakundi. I’m reaching out anonymously because I need help exposing a serious case of fraud involving Top Rides Motors and a man named Geoffrey Mbunde Marita. They took out a fake Directline Insurance policy on a vehicle after it had already been bought and taken possession of, and now that fraudulent policy is blocking the owner from insuring and using the car. The vehicle is a Mercedes. The fake policy was issued without the owner’s knowledge or consent and is listed as “Business Confidential” even though it is a private car. The car was bought from Top Rides Motors, fully paid for, and has been lawfully owned since then. When the owner tried to insure it with Heritage, they found the fake policy already in the system. Directline refuses to cancel it, saying they need instructions from Top Rides Motors or Geoffrey Mbunde Marita, who have no insurable interest in the car. Because of this, the vehicle cannot legally be driven and has been grounded for days. Complaints have been filed with the Insurance Regulatory Authority, the Insurance Fraud Unit, and Milimani Commercial Court. The owner has full documentation, including the sale agreement, proof of payment, and Heritage Insurance payment. Kindly help to expose this. Thank you."
We have secured the release of Mr Chacha Mwita, advocate who had been in custody for 18 long days.
An advocate has a right to represent any client and earn legal fees from those clients.
We thank all the able counsel who worked tirelessly to argue Mr Chachas case. @MarthaKarua@LawSocietyofKe@FaithOdhiambo8
@mwaurakab Mwaura Kabata blends experience with vision, ensuring the LSK moves forward without losing sight of its values. Leadership that listens, acts, and inspires. #KabataLSKPresident
A human rights state conceived by the 2010 Constitution is one where all rights are constitutionally effective and enforceable. In such times as these, an LSK president must believe in the entire gamut of human rights. Human rights, Constitutionalism and not fundamentalism.
Anyone seeking to lead the LSK while denying the universality and indivisibility of human rights is unfit for leadership. You can’t defend justice while undermining its core. Kenya is watching.
@sofwaraj I am not a lawyer so have no vote but, let me tell the lawyers out there Kanjama was very much against this constitution. For the doubters, check the TV archives. Ruto opposed it too. Imagine the odds.
A vote for Kanjama is a nail in the coffin for women’s rights. His hard-line conservative ideology, the fact that he’s sued women’s rights orgs for defamation because of standing on business and speaking the truth shows exactly who he is. He cannot lead LSK. Not now. Not EVER.
